Weighing less than 6 pounds—about as much as the Dyson V12 Detect Slim and considerably less than the Ryobi 18V One+ HP vacuum—the DS4095 feels almost buoyant to use. Of all the models we’ve tested, the nimble and powerful Dyson V12 Detect Slim comes closest to being the ideal cordless stick vacuum. Shark is a good household manufacturer that produces items like mops and irons alongside vacuums at different price points and styles. You can also use many Shark vacuums as handhelds, which is nice if you need to clean hard-to-reach places. If you want an easily portable model, Shark sells some cordless vacuums.
With our current testing methodology, the average score across 58 cordless vacuums we have tested is 91. Power is nice, but cleaning performance is really what we are dyson robot vacuum after, and what we found did not disappoint. In fact, the Shark Stratos Cordless was the first cordless vacuum to score a perfect 100 in our Carpet Deep Clean Test.
There are additional costs that come with ownership, though; the Vacmop is compatible with a cleaning solution and even comes with a small sample of it, but you’ll likely need to restock after a few weeks (for $10 per bottle). While one pad lasted about three days for us, depending on irobot vacuum cleaner how much we were cleaning, we would love it if this pick used reusable pads. Stocking up on disposable pads is a must, and also very easy to forget about, in our experience. Shark has become one of Dyson’s best rivals, especially in cordless cleaning. Because this is a Shark it’s packed with familiar features such as a flexible wand and an anti hair wrap brush roll – things which are genuinely useful to have on a vacuum cleaner. In everyday use we felt that the best feature here is the built-in laser, which shines a green light on your floors so you can see dirt and dust that would otherwise be invisible.
It comes with a thoughtful range of accessories that feel sturdy and well made; it offers three suction levels, selected via a button on the handle; and even the wall-mounted charging dock is cute and discreet. The Outsize+ has a wider brush and an even larger bin than the V15 Detect, but its motor is slightly less powerful. The V15 Detect’s dustbin is twice the size of the V12 Detect Slim’s bin. Even though the V15 Detect’s motor has more muscle, it did not clean significantly better than the V12 Detect Slim in our tests. In our testing, we found that the Fluffy head picked up larger debris that the Motorbar head tended to snowplow.
The best uprights have extra-strong suction and swappable brush heads (a motorized cleaner to agitate and lift dirt and debris from deep within carpets, and a soft parquet brush for delicate hardwood flooring). They feature useful hose attachment tools for cleaning stairs, sofas, bookshelves, and tight corners. Plug-in upright vacuums are powerful, versatile, reliable, and capable of cleaning every inch of your home—from thick rugs to hardwood floors.
This robot vacuum does a great job cleaning, even if the side brush has a habit of flicking some debris across the floor, extending the needed cleaning time. Previously called the Roidmi S1E, we found the R10 to be lightweight and easy to use in both stick cleaner or handheld mode. It also comes with a good selection of tools, including a motorized irobot vacuum cleaner mattress brush to make upholstery cleaning easy, making it a great everyday floorcare option for those on a budget. The vacuum and its tools (especially the crevice tool) also worked quite well when used on a high chair as well as a car seat. Its small size makes it super easy to maneuver, and the hands-free debris disposal is another plus.
Like its upright sibling, the Stratos Cordless has Shark’s new Odor Neutralizer technology. The system leverages a round cartridge in the main cleaning head, which is intended to freshen the air while the vacuum is in use. Shark claims a maximum of one hour of cleaning time before needing to charge its battery. For comparison, the Dyson V12 cordless is rated at a slightly higher 63 minutes of cleaning time in its lowest setting. We will get into Clean Sense IQ a bit more in our features section below. We did want to note that after using Stratos Cordless we think to maximize cleaning time IQ mode is the best setting to use for day-to-day cleaning.
