The two bright LEDs directed ahead of the suction head are also helpful for getting into dark corners and spots where other lighting doesn’t reach. This cordless Bissell vacuum performed extremely well on our hardwood floor tests. Rice, kitty litter, and sugar were all cleaned up 100% while cereal reached 90% cleanliness. The vacuum scored a 90% on the cereal test due to the unit clogging while sucking up the last few pieces.
There are only 3 small buttons and all are readily accessible on the face of the unit. The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser handheld vacuum comes in as a lighter unit, weighing only 5 pounds. This vacuum comes equipped with both a soft and hard nozzle, allowing users to clean multiple surface types. What I like most about the Bissell Cordless Hand Vacuum is that my 5-year-old, Bucky, can use it. The vacuum only weighs about 3.25 pounds so it’s easy for him to hold.
That’s why I was excited to get my hands on the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser. During the low pile carpet test, this Bissell handheld did very well also. Contrary to the hardwoods, the vent on this vacuum was less of a problem on the carpeted floors. More friction between the carpet fibers helped hold the debris in its place until the vacuum was able to suck it up, which it did easily with just one pass.
Additionally, the pet hair tool offers a great addition to the overall level of cleanliness this vacuum is able to create. These are really the only two chores you have to complete when owning this vacuum. For all my flat fabric surfaces, I used the motorized brush, and wow. It eliminated the hair from all of Big Red’s favorite hangout spots—the couch, my faux suede bar stools and the velvet chair in my office.
After using the vacuum for about two months, it made a bad sound while I was emptying it and simply stopped working. I emailed Bissell bissell vacuum cleaner about it, and they got back to me within 24 hours. They sent me a replacement for free and a return label to send back the dud.
To that end, the sugar was cleaned up at a level of 95% after taking another pass over the sugar that still remained in the carpet. I found that the vacuum worked best without any attachments for cleaning messes on the hardwood floor (unless you’re cleaning a corner, in which case you’ll want the crevice tool). Bissell recommends changing the filter on this vacuum every 3 months. If you do not use the Pet Hair Eraser on a daily basis, you may be able to get away with replacing the filter less often. The following replacement frequencies are what the manufacturer recommends. In addition, the unit has a slender, tube-like form factor, which allows it to fit into tighter spaces and clean deeper.
