Alen® HEPA Air Purifier Alen® BreatheSmart FLEX Store

Put the FLEX to work cleaning up to 700 square feet of air every 30 minutes. Add a customizable filter for your specific needs in each space, and you’ve got pure air, everywhere. We’ve calculated this using the B4-Fresh filter, which we recommend for most household pollutants.

Dust, pollen, smoke removal is how well a model cleared air of fine clay dust and cigarette smoke when operating at a low speed that was typically one setting above the lowest speed. Many models have multiple speeds and the lowest is not as effective at cleaning the air. A model that scores well for dust removal should perform comparably for pollen. The Alen® 75i Air Purifier isn’t just a game changer—it’s a life changer. Consumer Reports recommends the Alen® BreatheSmart 75i Pure with an overall EXCELLENT score.

Another consideration you need to make when buying an air purifier is the cost of replacing the filters. The filters in air purifiers need replacing periodically (the manufacturer will tell you how long they last on average), and it’s not recommended that you wash them. When it comes to noise levels emitted, the winner is the 45i, as it generates less noise. Although the 45i is only one decibel quieter than the Flex when running at its highest fan speed level.

Alen® 45i Air Purifier’s powerful, high-speed fans continuously move air through True HEPA 13, medical grade filters to produce ideal conditions for better sleep. Experience non-stop protection from irritants that can affect sleep quality with our beautiful, quiet, best-selling, bedroom buddy. The Alen® FLEX is the ultimate purifier for the kid’s room, guest room, home office or home gym.

All of these controls are mirrored in the Alen Air mobile app, which can be used to remotely control the 75i and to monitor your air quality in greater detail. The setup process seems more streamlined than the last time we tested this product and took just a couple of minutes to complete. Now with an updated app, the BreatheSmart 75i provides plenty of power and air quality info, but its size and price tag are more suited to commercial settings than home environments. Through our performance testing, we were impressed with all the filters from the Alen products we reviewed.

This is called CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) and is measured in CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) to show us how effective an air purifier is at its job. When it comes to design and filters, both units are almost identical. They have the H13 HEPA main filter that may cost about $100 but needs to be changed only once per year. With other air purifiers, you’re looking at 3-5 filter replacements per year, and a total cost of about $300. On top of that, Alen is the first air purifier brand to introduce a lifetime warranty. By buying the Alen BreatheSmart Classic, you’re playing it safe; the warranty covers all the problems you may have.

That’s why we wanted to get our hands on a few of their products to test and review. This Austin-based company has been engineering and innovating since 1999, so they have a wealth of knowledge behind them. Their mission is to ” improve the alen breathesmart quality of people’s lives” with their products; their vision is to “inspire a healthier life and provide peace of mind” for their customers. Sadly, the noise levels are also a bit of a con for the Classic model, paradoxically so I may add.

Once connected, the app allows you to monitor the air quality in your room and control the unit settings from anywhere in the world. When it comes to the control panel, the winner has to be the 45i thanks to its extra features, including an auto mode, ionizer and display brightness control. Alen BreatheSmart air purifiers do have a premium price tag, and the Classic model is not exempt. BreatheSmart is, after all, the best-of-the-best air purifier series in the world. The Classic model will, as a result of its filtration of indoor air, increase the air quality to standard quality (yellow light) and finally to healthy air quality (blue light).

The more activated carbon a filter contains, the more contaminants it can remove. The 45i is lighter, so it is easier to move, but they both feature a flat, removable front panel held on with magnets, curved edges and measure up the same size. To the untrained eye, you would never be able to tell the difference. We try to keep up with sales for every air purifier we review; Alen BreatheSmart Classic sales included. While the new flagship 45i and 75i models achieved the super quiet operation (below 50 dB), the Classic doesn’t share the same noise profile.
