Pipe Tobacco in Cans

W. Curtis Draper Tobacconist (Drapers) was founded in 1887 by William Curtis Draper. It is the oldest full service tobacconist in the District of Columbia and the third oldest in the United States. Proprietors John Anderson and Matt Krimm offer a full array Pipe Tobacco in Bags of cigars, pipes, pipe tobacco, snus and smoking accessories to a national clientele. Pipe tobacco brands in tins, cans, or otherwise packaged – hundreds of blends to consider, from the incredibly rare Esoterica to the incredibly popular Captain Black.

To preserve the freshness and moisture of pipe tobacco cuts, pouches and tins are used. Some people point to a 1964 Surgeon General report about the health effects of smoking as evidence that people who smoke pipes live longer than cigarette smokers and nonsmokers. However, the report states that Pipe Tobacco in Cans the number of deaths was a “little if at all higher” than for nonsmokers, meaning the number was similar — not lower — for pipe smokers. (A 1960s experiment with filtered cigarettes was deemed a failure.[4]) The blend is burley-based and remains one of America’s top-selling pipe tobaccos.

Prince Albert’s pipe tobacco is available in 1+1⁄2-ounce (43 g) pouches and 14-ounce (400 g) tins. Its flavor is very strong, so it isn’t usually found in high percentages in a blend. Once the tobacco “drinks” the sauce, it’s conditioned in large cylinders that dry it back to the desired moisture level, generally between 12% (on the dry side) and 22% (very moist). Optimal moisture for smoking depends on the smoker, but it’s generally in the 13-16% range. The aromas and flavours imparted by casing will remain in the tobacco pretty tenaciously, and will affect the smoke throughout the bowl. These are the two broadest subdivisions of pipe tobaccos, although often the distinctions are blurred.

Tobacco products imported or offered for import into the United States must comply with all the applicable requirements under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act). You can find more information on the Importing and Exporting webpage. While both hookah tobacco and pipe tobacco are hazardous to health, there are some differences between the two.
