Even better, this model comes with an oversized pulp bin, which means that you can juice large quantities of food without having to stop and empty the bin. The Breville machine is beautiful, with a sleek and expensive look to it. It is taller and wider than Hamilton Beach, requiring a bit more storage space. At the same time, the juice container is much larger, which is a plus if you do a lot of juicing in one sitting. There’s more to clean with a larger container and an added lid, and foam can be removed using a spoon on models without a lid. Hamilton Beach’s juice container is much smaller, but you can also fit a drinking glass under the spout in place of the juice catcher.
We received well above the average amount of juice with only mild amounts of pulp, though it created a decent amount of foam. For our first recipe — a concoction consisting of beetroots, carrots, apples, celery, cucumbers, and ginger root — the Big Mouth delivered a middle-of-the-road performance. It produced juice with great texture, but the taste seemed slightly off compared to the other tested models. Our testers found it to be substantially less tasty than the beverages produced by some of the other, higher-quality juicers. Sometimes a fresh-pressed juice is just the thing to brighten up a drab fall day.

This cannot be done on Breville’s juicer since the juice comes spraying out and will make a mess unless the proper container is in place. As a centrifugal juicer, it uses an 800-watt motor to quickly easily extract the juice from even the toughest of produce, like beets. Hamilton Beach did a little bit better than Breville did, in this regard. I thought the two machines were similar in performance, which surprised me since there was a significant price difference. When comparing, using similar amounts of produce going through both machines, they produced the same amount of juice. If the Breville produced better (by teaspoons, maybe), it was not enough to justify spending the extra money based on this alone. The pulp from Breville was a tad bit dryer, didn’t stick to my fingers as much, which suggests more juice having been extracted from it.
You can then remove the dry pulp and repeat until you have the juice that you need. However, they have a ton of models available at a variety of price points. If you’re new to juicing or replacing a model you bought years ago, you might not be sure which model is the best one for you. It doesn’t help matters that manufacturers are all too happy to exaggerate the upside of models online and ignore the downside altogether. I also tried to run the pulp through the machine a second time, which squeezed out a few more dribbles, but not enough to be worth the extra effort.
