Yes it does so reasonably well, but the odd thing is the coolest setting is only 17° Celsius. Our other AC goes way colder so you can really ice down a room. The Arctic King with such a cap takes a bit longer to ice a room down and even then I suspect in a really hot climate it might struggle to fully cool a room 350 to 450 sq. While I like living in a place that isn’t too hot, the problem is most houses don’ have central air.
The whirlpool mini refrigerator 10k BTU portable air conditioner does not have an energy star rating, but this, however, doesn’t mean that it’ll have your electricity bill shoot up to an astronomical level. Of course, it would be better to have the Avallon Dual Hose Portable Air Conditioner that has a cooling power of 12,000 BTU. So it’s still powerful, even if it’s not the greatest BTU window air conditioner. But this Arctic King unit has an energy saver setting that you can switch on, and what this does is it switches it on and off intermittently depending on the current indoor climate.

Out came the Arctic King and now my office is nice and cool. It’s simple, which is a big reason I like it. I didn’t have to think to set it up or get it going. I just pressed the power button, turned the temp to the lowest setting and enjoyed a cool room in minutes.
