Buy a couple of tarps…because you will need them. If and when I buy a new tent, I will go with Ozark again, and will not buy it from walmart….if you watch a doc. Called “Walmart, the high cost ozark trail tents of low prices” it will explain to you why the product there is so cheap. I had bought this tent thinking it was going to be dry, man was I wrong. This tent leaked water more than i had ever seen.
We have never been able to sleep in it and makes a poor storage room. I am 67 yrs old and have used Ozark Trail tents for years, but this covered screen dome turned out NOT TO BE A TENT. I would not even think of unloading it on my worst enemy. I purchased this tent to take to music festivals and such, because it is like a small house. However, for its second trip it just fell apart. One day into a 3-day festival, I returned to camp to find both of the large poles snapped right in two.

Many newer tent brands like EZ-Up use revolutionary thumb lock sliders or larger easy to release buttons, which are a much better user experience when setting the canopy up or taking it down. With the push buttons you need to worry about pinching fingers or not being able to release the button when it gets rusted, which is never a pleasant experience. The legs extend to give the top peak a height of about 8’10” which will be plenty of headroom for anyone underneath.
From a positive perspective, the lightweight design increases portability which is certainly important in carrying the tent to its intended location. From a negative perspective, the weight is indicative of a lack of high quality material and components used throughout the shelter. The included carrying bag does not have wheels to aid in transportation, but at only 29 lbs. We don’t find that to be a noteworthy drawback as the nylon handles and shoulder strap work just fine in carrying the tent. The legs are locked into place with old school metal push button locks, something you won’t see on many modern pop up tents now-a-days. These push locks get very difficult to use over time, especially if the tent is used on the beach and exposed to sand and saltwater, causing rust build up.
Regarding the weight, this system is heavy, but there are many elements here and this is a very stable structure. This is a car camping tent so the weight is not really a big issue. You have a floorless 2-door screenhouse for protection from flying insects, plus a large porch for sitting in the shade. I have all the good reasons to include it to my list of best screen houses for camping. In this configuration you have one of the two tents attached to the roof, and this can be any of them, the structure is fully symmetric. So this is a 4-person tent with a huge porch in front of it. This is why I have included it in my list of 4-person tents. My family and I have used it a total of 3 times and the seams have ripped.
