Using a little oil helps, but for best results, Weber suggests oiling your food rather than the grill grate. Throughout my testing, I was easily able to achieve temperatures of 450 to 500 degrees with this portable grill, which was enough for my needs. However, if you like to cook with really high temperatures—I’m talking over 500 degrees—you might have trouble getting there with only one burner.

This model also has a Grill Out handle light, which illuminates your grill for nighttime cooking. This grill is the only Weber Q that can be bought as a natural gas grill model instead of a propane gas grill only. It can also be hooked up to a 20-pound propane tank. The Weber Q portable gas grill was invented when Weber realized that many people were moving into the city where they wouldn’t have large backyards.

Things change, but we believe Weber’s commitment to quality and innovation has not. Heat Flux is the BTU per square inch and is a more useful measure of how much heat a grill delivers than BTU alone. To ensure you choose the correct replacement part for your grill, we recommend removing the original part and comparing it to what we list. You can also check your owner’s manual to make sure this part will work with your grill. The only real difference is that the 2200 is a bit bigger and it has a hood thermometer. However, what I have seen of the 2200 makes it a good investment for you.

Speaking of weight, one of the few negative things that I do have to say about the weber q 2200 is regarding how heavy it is. For a portable gas grill, it can be quite heavy, making it difficult to lug around, particularly on its own. Lastly, the Q3200 includes a significant feature that none of the other grills have. The Q3200 is the only grill out of the Weber Q Series with a warming rack, something rarely seen in my reviews.

We weigh everything that goes into our RV and our Q1200 is a bit less than 23 lbs without the propane bottle. The weight that everyone seems to quote in their reviews is lbs and that is the shipping weight, not the actual weight of the grill. As I mentioned earlier, the materials used to make all the main parts are either cast aluminum, stainless steel, or glass-reinforced nylon. All of these materials will hold up exceptionally well in most situations, given that the grill is stored correctly when not in use. By that, I mean, don’t leave it outside in the elements and expect it to look pretty in five years. From there, it was simply a matter of checking the drip pan.

In 2014 Weber split the cooking grate to accomodate an optonal cast iron griddle on one side. With an MSRP of $269, the weber q 2200 Gas Grill is definitely one of the more expensive portable gas grills you can buy. However, it’s also one of the largest and most powerful on the market.

Salt appears first in the ingredients list because law says the order is by weight, not volume, and salt is a heavy rock. We rarely recommend products we haven’t tested and we never recommend products that we don’t love. The benefit here is that it limits the amount of grease that can fall on the flame, resulting in fewer flare-ups. That did the trick, and the pan slid into place easily. It seems like it was a one-off fluke, and honestly, the resolution was simple enough that it didn’t bother me too much. As far as heat retention goes, the cast aluminum lid does a pretty good job at keeping the heat trapped inside. As long as you keep the lid closed, you shouldn’t lose heat and will be able to cook the food faster.

If it passes the break-in period without improving, then give Weber a call. They will likely replace your regulator free of charge. A stainless steel Q-shaped burner tube produces 8,500 BTUs of heat, which the grill efficiently and weber q evenly disperses across the entire grill surface. It takes minutes to preheat thoroughly, but it must be preheated with the lid down. The grill surface is roughly 12½″ front to back and 16¾″ side to side at its widest points.

These small cookers make travel easy, but obviously limit the amount and size of what can be cooked. They may be used as a table top grill or mounted to a fold out stand with two legs, two wheels and tool hooks.
