Weber Q Gas Grills Portable Weber Q Grills : BBQGuys

The LP model comes with an adaptor hose to connect to a 20lb propane tank. The natural gas model includes a hose and fittings to connect to a barbecue service line, should you have one. The Weber Q 1200 is one of three grills in the Q 1000 series.

Just set up the grill so that the lid opens away from the wind, creating a natural wind barrier. It also works very well in temperatures below freezing, for those of you crazies who insist on doing that. I feel there one massive strike against it being genuinely portable. It’s around 30 lbs and is a bit cumbersome to transport without wheels. Out of the box, it feels a little clunky and awkward. It isn’t the type of grill you would be willing to carry very far.

The grill grates are the toughest part to clean, but they are small enough that they will fit in a dish tub to soak when you’re away from home. There is also a very durable porcelain coating covering the grates. Preheating is a requirement because if the grates aren’t hot, your food could bake right on.

Ideal for cooking hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken, steaks, and veggies. When it comes to other items such as roasts or ribs, you may find that the lid is a little too shallow and the cooking area is just a bit too small. The 2200 has the same features as the Q 2000, but also has the additional feature of the built-in thermometer. This isn’t the typical Weber Q experience, but the regulators can be problematic.

The first portable grill I ever bought was a Weber Q100, the older version of today’s Weber Q1000. I bought it when I started this site back in 2011, and it actually was the reason I created this website. Which one of the Weber Q Series grills is right for you? Look at the table above to see what each grill includes; pick the one with the features you want.

Portable grilling gets an upgrade by the masters at Weber. The Weber Q 2200 is an attractive little grill if I do say so myself. It has a tan lid with the Q series logo on top, and it’s made up of a cast aluminum lid and body supported by a reinforced nylon frame. The brand also sells cast iron griddles you can swap in for more versatility. The Weber Q 3200 has the largest cooking area of all the Weber Q gas grills with 393 square inches of grilling space. The Q 3200 also comes with a stand for the grill, making it the only freestanding Weber Q model.

An adaptor hose can easily convert to a 20lb propane tank. This is far more cost-effective and won’t leave you running out of propane halfway through cooking a meal. The smallest of the weber charcoal grill models, these grills are hard to beat when combining quality with portability. Perfect for small families wanting to barbecue at the beach or the park. Fantastic for tailgating or to use on your next camping trip.

These small cookers make travel easy, but obviously limit the amount and size of what can be cooked. They may be used as a table top grill or mounted to a fold out stand with two legs, two wheels and tool hooks.

We weigh everything that goes into our RV and our Q1200 is a bit less than 23 lbs without the propane bottle. The weight that everyone seems to quote in their reviews is lbs and that is the shipping weight, not the actual weight of the grill. As I mentioned earlier, the materials used to make all the main parts are either cast aluminum, stainless steel, or glass-reinforced nylon. All of these materials will hold up exceptionally well in most situations, given that the grill is stored correctly when not in use. By that, I mean, don’t leave it outside in the elements and expect it to look pretty in five years. From there, it was simply a matter of checking the drip pan.
