Pressure Washers

Many pressure washers had unique features like a hose reel, little baskets, spray wand rests, multiple spray tips, and other little features we tried out on-site. We didn’t lug all six washers to each location, but testing out each unit multiple times was sufficient to put it through its paces and get a real feel for cleaning with it. Similarly, if you only need to clear some cobwebs and get rid of mold on the porch, do you need 3200psi of gas power? Power isn’t always the answer, you should consider the most efficient solution that requires the least maintenance if you’re an average homeowner. Plus, remember that gas pressure washers can’t be operated indoors because they emit CO. Even if we’re restricting ourselves to just electric, too much pressure can be an issue.

Surface cleaner attachments include two or more nozzles that offer a consistent spray directly onto flat surfaces for increased cleaning. Add water de-ionization systems that remove any dissolved solids from the water for spotless air drying. Pole kits extend your reach when cleaning building and large surfaces.

The spray wand that comes with it is 42 inches in size and it’s very strong and sturdy, which is very necessary for it to withstand the volume of water going through it at high pressures. It’s equipped with a very efficient and powerful Axial Cam pump which can pump up to 2.5 gallons of water per minute at a pressure of 3100 PSI. It’s also equipped with a detergent tank, which you can use to apply detergent to the surfaces you’re washing or cleaning, like cars and boats. The Honda GC190 engine powers a maintenance-free Axial Cam pump which pumps water at a rate of 2.7 GPM and at a pressure of 3100 PSI, which is more than enough to cater for any home’s cleaning needs. The Generac 6565 is a professional grade unit that blasts water at a rate of 4 gallons per minute and at a pressure of 4200 PSI to leave whatever you’re washing, clean and spotless. It has the capacity to pump 2.4 gallons of water per minute at a pressure of 3100 PSI.

Up near the handle is a series of pressure-fit holes that hold the tips with enough grip to secure them but not so much that taking them out is difficult. The storage space even has an additional hole in case you add a nozzle later on. After testing, we’ve added the Greenworks Pro 2700 PSI Electric Pressure Washer to the Other good pressure washers section. All models provide similar cord lengths, long enough to reduce the need for extension cords. Some units come with a single adjustable powerhead that provides infinitely variable spray angles from its minimum to its maximum.

As nice as the DWPW2400’s tires are, they aren’t a necessity for most people. We feel the same about the additional nozzles, and although we like the detergent tank, the electrical cord’s storage faults outweigh that positive, so we still prefer the Ryobi as our first choice. The major downside of the DWPW2400 is that the cord wrap is awkward to get at and difficult to use, which in our tests made stowing the washer away a tedious and dreaded chore. At the back of the motor are two “horns” that you’re meant to wrap the cord around. These horns are positioned very low, and with a 35-foot cord, wrapping up the entire length takes quite a while.

Similar to the Briggs & Stratton model, the Westinghouse has a stainless-steel wand with brass connectors that easily and securely attach to the wand and four nozzle tips. It also has a 25-foot power cord and 35-foot inlet hose, which doesn’t get tangled up when moving around because it’s made of braided sun joe spx 3000 nylon. The Westinghouse does have a hard-plastic body, which accounts for its light weight, but it’s been equipped with a carbon-brush motor that delivers an intense pressure flow. Additionally, the RY is gas powered, and as with any gas model, a good deal of maintenance goes along with that.

This one comes with five spray wand tips for a variety of cleaning tasks. All the hose fittings are made of high-quality brass for secure connections. Paint started to chip when we used the 15-degree tip, and when we switched to the zero-degree tip this machine completely destroyed the piece of wood. So with enough care, you can definitely get out stubborn stains with the Generac and remove chipped paint from tougher surfaces. Since electric washers are much lower in cost than gas models, we were surprised to see the Sun Joe was the only electric model to feature a stainless steel wand extension and brass fittings.

The spray wand that comes with it is pretty solid, and there’s a 25 feet length of flexible hose attached to the washer so you can reach your work easily. Or, you can squeeze the trigger on the spray wand when starting it. Squeezing the trigger also releases the pressure and makes it easy for you to start it.

Combine this with a low center of gravity and you’ve got yourself the best compact electric pressure washer on the market. There’s no competing model in the same weight or price class out there that even comes close to beating the ePX3000. In addition, you also get a 3-year residential warranty which should give you peace of mind and shows that Westinghouse stands behind their products. Westinghouse has been in business since 1886, so they have a pretty good idea on how to build durable products. At nearly a foot in diameter, they’re almost twice as large as the wheels on most electric pressure washers.

This design allows the plug to be normal size and thus able to fit into any outlet, even if something else is plugged in nearby or if it’s an exterior outlet with a cover. In our test group, many other pressure washers had the GFCI built directly into the plug end, making it gigantic and either tedious or impossible to deal with when we had to plug in each washer. With extra-large wheels, a long hose, a high-end induction motor, and a well-designed GFCI plug, this Ryobi model is the most user-friendly electric pressure washer. For gas models, leaving the unit running without spraying water can overheat and damage the pump. Models with a thermal-pump protection, however, can reduce the risk.
