Keurig K-Mini

Some coffee lovers will adore the no-fuss simplicity of the K-Mini, but there is another option for someone willing to pay slightly more for a longer list of features. The outer shell is plastic, so it doesn’t feel as premium as some other machines, but the overall quality is actually quite nice if you’re good with that. Its effortless one-touch brewing system and streamlined design make this Keurig K-Mini a stylish and compact option for those living alone or in close quarters. You’re better off with this option if you want your drink ready right away without having to think about it or plan ahead. If you’d rather have more say in how your coffee is brewed, this isn’t the machine for you. There was a time, a moment, in your adult life that found you standing in the small appliance aisle.

However, if you want to brew the coffee into travel mugs when you’re on the move, you can take out their drip trays, offering an extra inch of clearance. One thing makes this brewer different from other Keurig® models; there is no water reservoir. This happens to be the only reason I prefer this unit – especially for my weekend cottage. The water does not sit in the unit all week while I am away, and winter storage is a non-factor. This means the water will sit in the coffee maker all season.

You can enjoy delicious coffee in your office or even in an RV. Also, the machines each have a 24in the cord, which fits snugly in the Hamilton Beach cord storage at the back. The Keurig Mini is a good single-serve coffee maker, offering great value for its very appealing price.

Hamilton Beach and K-Mini Plus are aimed squarely at those with limited countertop space. You can also use the My K-Cup universal filter with this model.

Temperature is another vital part of brewing coffee, and the National Coffee Association says the optimal cup is brewed between 195 to 205 degrees Fahrenheit. The K-Mini is unable to produce coffee at this temperature. Out of four cups of coffee, each cup I brewed ranged between 180 to 189 degrees Fahrenheit, despite the serving size.

If I don’t get a new one for free I will not recommend and not buy another Keurig. I will also post on the Keurig website about my troubles. At the time of publishing, the black version was the most affordable. However, looking at historical data, the price seems to fluctuate between different colors. Oasis and Studio Gray can be much more affordable than Black.

When it comes to compact and easy-to-use drip machines for the casual coffee lover, there’s not much more you can ask of the Keurig K-Mini. I love the rounded, curved design with no sharp features or protruding buttons to trap dirt. The design and shape of this machine are all about simplicity and convenience. Reflects how easy it is to operate a unit, refill the water reservoir, and clean the appliance after use.

To keep your Mini in good shape, it’s recommended to clean the external parts or the brewer regularly and descaling it every three to six months. It will save you a ton of money (more than 50% savings per cup, compared to regular k-cups) and it will also help reduce waste. The brewer will turn off automatically 90 seconds after the last brew to help save energy. First, remove the water reservoir and fill it to the appropriate line. Put it back into place and select your favorite K-Cup 1.0.
