How much you spend depends on your budget and your must-haves in a robot vacuum cleaner. As a rule of thumb, the more features and functions a robot has, the more expensive it will be. We really like theDyson Ball 2 Multi FloorandDyson Ball Multi Floor(gen. 1 model, less expensive). Dyson tends to have the better suction required for a complete clean on carpeted floors. The dust bit design of the V7, V8, or V10 gets increasing better as the models go up, pushing the debris out of the bin instead of relying solely on the debris falling out on its own. It only powers the vacuum when your finger is on the trigger and if you stop to move furniture or do something else, the vacuum immediately turns off.
The result of this was that there were several occasions when we were unable to use the vacuum. While it scored well in our larger debris pick-up tests, it scored poorly in our finer debris pick-up tests.
