When you compare it to the 5090 (it’s older brother), there’s a 5-minute improvement. Thankfully, Braun reconsidered and went with a brand-new LED attachment with 5190cc. This thing is clearer in terms of intensity.
The machine comes with a “Low Charge Indicator” as well. Use the machine well enough and it’ll most probably offer you few extra minutes of shaving beyond the advertised runtime. Besides that, we have a separate trimmer that slides out when you push a button at the back of the machine. Push it again and the curved blade retracts back.

And the results would have been much better also. And I was really thorough with it and spent quite a bit of time doing it. There’s a cutout below the shaving unit covered by two rubber flaps. And that’s a bit odd since all of them are actually compatible with the stations shipped with the 2020 Series 7 and 6 . So it’s overall a quiet razor, although not by any means as quiet as a rotary.
The universal voltage converter (100–240v) allows you to use 5018s anywhere in the world, so you can definitely consider it as a travel shaver. This means you can rinse them with water, but also shave in the shower or with your favorite shaving cream or gel. We’ll see how well it works in the cleaning and maintenance section of the review. And while the 3 cutting elements can move independently, the head unit of the 5018s is fixed. So this review will also be relevant in the case of the other models like the 5050cs, 5020s or the UK 50-B1200s and 50-W4650cs.
The blades and foils can’t be separated , so some stubborn hairs and debris may get stuck in hard-to-reach spots. The pressure from the stream of water pushes those flaps inward and enters the head of the shaver, flushing away the hair clippings. But in my case, it doesn’t make much sense as I tend to shave often — every three days at most — so there’s no need to pre-trim my beard.
In the Series 5 50xx, there are three models available at the moment; they are 5018s, 5020s and 5050cs. For Series 5 51xx, there are also three models, which are 5140s, 5145s and 5190cc. The motor does a good job of sensing our skin patterns and adapting accordingly.
To disconnect, turn all controls off, then remove plug from outlet. Do not use an extension cord with this appliance. Lots of consumers have been more than happy with the shaver and had no complaints at all.
