If you’re paying extra for a Genesis line grill, it’s probably worth it to get the E-310 and tons of extra cooking space. There’s not a ton of difference between the Genesis E-210 and Spirit II E-210. With 26,000 BTUs of heat output, you can Blackstone Adventure get temperatures up pretty high, especially for a 2 burner gas grill. With 669 square inches of total cooking space, the Weber Genesis II E-310has the most cooking area in the Weber E-210 vs E-310 conversation by a pretty comfortable margin.
The older E-310s offer the same amount of cooking space as the upgraded models, but they’re also slightly bulkier in design. That makes this category something of a toss-up–you’re not likely to notice much of a difference either way. Our favorite thing about the Spirit II E-210 gas grill is that it allows direct and indirect cooking. According to Weber, you should use the direct method for tender food like steak, fish, burgers, and other meals that take less than 20 minutes to cook.

Weber’s other new addition to the Spirit line, the $700 Spirit SP-335, is basically the S-315 with a built-in side burner and a dedicated high-heat searing area on the grill. We don’t recommend grills with side burners because we don’t think that extra feature is worth the $100-plus markup. As for the dedicated “searing zone,” we don’t think it’s necessary, since we’ve never had trouble grilling steaks and chops with dark brown crusts on either of our picks. We think you’re better off saving over $200 with the Spirit II E-310.
