Weber Grills, Smokers & BBQ at Ace Hardware

The pan is made from lightweight metal and has a recessed area in the center to hold a disposable tin. It’s supposed to slide in underneath the grill body, but the pan that came with my grill was the tiniest bit too big and wouldn’t slide into the grooves. I tried everything I could think of—rotating it, bending it, putting it in from the other side—and it simply wouldn’t fit. From charcoal to gas to pellet grills, there are plenty of grills on the market that are capable of fulfilling all of your grilling needs. Gas grills, in particular, are great due to their ability to control the heat temperature while they’re in use. Camryn Rabideau is a freelance writer and product reviewer.

As far as I’m concerned, Weber is the standard for quality consumer grills at the mid to upper mid-range price category and so my expectations for its products are high. The Weber Traveler portable gas grill didn’t disappoint and I think this a solid value at $325. It’s a sturdily built unit that comes together in a snap and weber q is completely user-friendly to boot. If you’ve never grilled a single day in your life, I still don’t think you have any problems assembling and operating this grill. The Traveler got and stayed nice and hot and controlling the temperature — while not perfectly precise — was fine for the type of grilling most people do.

Like other top models, this is all thanks to a single, U-shaped burner that effectively delivers heat across the range of the grill surface. The weber q 100 gas grill pairs a high performance cooking system and easy-grip handles to form a powerful yet portable gas grill. The Q1000 Series is lighter and more compact, while the Q2000 series has more grilling space and a taller lid. You will find a model in each series that has a built-in thermometer and folding side tables.

The Char Q was built on the 200 frame so it was a large portable charcoal grill and with the price of $150 it proved to be something not worth it for consumers. The Char Q was released in 2008 and Weber ended production in 2011. The only annoyance in the wind is the disposable aluminum drip tray liner, which is designed to save you from having to clean what can notoriously be the nastiest part of a grill. Without some significant weight added — like a rock — you can expect that this drip pan will pick up and fly away with the first significant gust of wind. But even understanding the reasons behind the weight does not benefit this grill’s portability. Again, considering this grill against all other tabletop models in this review, the Q 1200 “packs down” to a less-than-reasonable 3.2 cubic-feet.

I usually buy mine from Home Depot, but you may be able to order them online as well. I don’t know if the complaint is the right word, but I would contend the Traveler is slightly less portable than the brand would have you believe. It’s heavier than any other portable grill I’ve tested and I would categorize the Traveler as a semi-portable grill and not a truly portable grill.

If I hated how it heated up or something, I would have said so. However, I brought it up specifically because you stated you “were expected to write a review” and it is an expensive product. The ability of keeping an unbiased review would be tainted by receiving and keeping an expensive product regardless of whether they call it a gift.

We put that phrase in quotations because the only thing that packs away are the side tables, which do conveniently fold up securely underneath the lid. My experience with both of these grills has been excellent. I don’t use them much anymore because I’m always testing new portable grills, but let me expand on that. Today I want to compare all the models you can choose from in the portable bbq Series. Weber Q grills are some of my favorite portable grills, but there are quite a few differences between them. The cast iron grill grate itself is designed to cover the areas right above the burner, so I also noticed very few flareups and no smoking.

Our avid grillers love the portable aspect of the Weber Q,allowing grilling at parks, poolsides, beaches, tailgate parties and more. For our urban grillers, it’s perfect for balconies or any size deck. The Weber Qis also a fun house-warming or wedding gift, or a great additional grill for any avid back yard bbq hero. When you make rubs at home we recommend you add salt first them the herbs and spices because salt penetrates deep and the other stuff remains on the surface.
