Weber Q 100 Review

Let’s take a look at the table that I put together below that compares the base features of size and features before we talk about the big picture. After about 15 minutes of preheating both the Q weber charcoal grill grills and Traveler will have grate temperatures approaching 600F. By the way, I realize that everyone has different needs for their grills and that styling preferences are purely subjective.

Moreover, you even get a sliding removable catch pan to collect excess grease from the slanted grease plate. This pan is placed at a distance from the weber charcoal grill heating element for safety as well. For extra protection, the electric cable is about six-foot-long, and it has been grounded to prevent fires.

It’s this flavour that is the hallmark of the fabulous cooking system. Most grills have “Flavorizer Bars” above the burner tubes that serve several purposes, one of which is protecting the burners from grill debris. There are no Flavorizer bars on the Q 3200 which means the burners are directly exposed to anything that drips down from the cooking grate. This direct exposure leads to clogging of the burner tubes. The Q 3200 is designed to be a cart mounted grill and is not designed to be removed from the cart for use as a portable gas grill. The body of this grill is cast aluminum and the cart and frame are plastic.

Here is a look at the burner configuration on the Q 3200. There is are two accessories available for this grill, a griddle and a rotisserie, that really ramp up your grilling fun. You can use the griddle to cook breakfast favorites like bacon and eggs or pancakes outside.

While the Traveler does fold up easily and can be dragged around without too much effort, it is still rather heavy pounds to be exact — especially with the grill grates inside. I personally wouldn’t want to drag or carry this grill on a hike or even a long walk. The Weber Q 1200 is extremely portable considering it’s a grill. I was able to pack it in the trunk of my car with very little effort. In the above image you will see how its side tables are folded in, while the bottom shows everything opened up. This makes for very easy storage — whether it be in the trunk of your car or your garage.

It seems like it was a one-off fluke, and honestly, the resolution was simple enough that it didn’t bother me too much. This little grill cooks just as well as my full sized Weber Genesis II 300 series. Since I am only cooking for two of us now, capacity is not an issue. I can put it in the trunk and take it to the park or beach. The stand itself is a bit on the flimsy side but it’s nice for use on the deck and I can fold everything down and roll it away in the corner when not in use. The only downside is that I go through the 1lb gas bottles after only a handful of cooks.

If you do not own a reliable and trust-worthy grill, your barbeque experience could be quite frustrating. I have to say that I didn’t expect the Q 2200 to function and perform as well as it did. From putting it together to actually using the grill, it has been a wonderful experience all around. And, while I will be using my whole grills for heavy duty grilling and smoking, this has earned its spot in my collection. In general, though, this gas grill is pretty easy to use.

While some gas grills do allow you to allow use charcoal in them, this particular portable grill does not. The Traveler is not much easier or more difficult to clean than your standard gas grill. There’s a drip tray to catch the worst of it and you can easily remove the grill grates to clean the inside of the firebox or hull of the grill.
