Dyson 360 Eye Review

Next-day scheduled delivery may not be available during peak times. Industrial robots tend to be purpose-built for just a single very specific task, resulting in countless different shapes and sizes of bots making dyson robot vacuum up an entire assembly line. But no one wants a kitchen further cluttered with five or six different robots each handling a specific chore. We ideally just want one that does anything and everything we ask of it.

Dyson has also revamped the controls and information dial on top. The vacuum is fitted with a panoramic lens, which sits on top of a camera that captures 360-degree views at 30 frames a second. This is combined with data from infrared sensors to let the machine’s internal computer make sense of its position irobot vacuum cleaner and surroundings. “Certainly our experience of the competitors has been that they may do more on the robotics side of things than they do on the rather important business of cleaning your floors.” During product development, the Dyson team built simulation tools to test the robot in silico.

Robot vacuum cleaners have joined dishwashers, washing machines and tumble dryers, i.e. the veterans of the cleaning world, in automating pesky chores and minimising hassle. These dust hunting dynamos can zip around your living room with the push of a button saving sore backs all round. A lot of factors go into how well the robot vacuums with cameras operate under furniture or if they even go under in the first place. Yes, the height is important, but also lighting and other items that may be under the couch. Powerful suction, with Ball™ technology for maneuverability. The Dyson Link app is relatively simple in terms of features.

Both of these brands design exceptional vacuums, however they tend to serve some consumers better than others. Dyson has since released the “Fluffy” soft roller cleaning head which does a much better job of cleaning these particular messes. The soft roller head is included on any model that has the word “Absolute” or “Fluffy” after the model number. Again, this has quite a few similarities to newer V-Series models. The biggest strike against good usability has got to be the 20 minute run time.

The Dyson 360 Eye is unsurprisingly a terrific vacuum, but it does have room for improvement for a robot – which isn’t saying anything new for the category. On hardwoods, the 890 was able to capture about 98% of debris tested. On low pile carpet, the number drops slightly to around 92% and on high pile carpet, it drops a little more, closer to 88%. The 350dia x H91mm lozenge can get right under all but the lowest furniture, and when it moves from hardwood floors to rugs and carpet it boosts the motor speed for better cleaning results. The twin rubber brush bar is easy to untangle and exceedingly good at picking up pet hair.

I was hoping I could tell it to vacuum a room I wasn’t planning on using at the time as a work around for the app not having that functionality, but this is also not possible. Again, Dyson was not able to answer this and never called back. I guess the real issue is that for my house, the vacuum needs to go back to the dock to recharge before finishing.
