The beard trimmer works fine as long as you don’t try to go too fast. I get breakouts and skin irritation from manual razors, and this one is marketed to have skin sensitive technology and can be used wet or dry. Other Braun shaver series comes with a cleaning and charging station which this series 5 does not, Remington Shaver although that may come soon. Cleaning is a feature of this shaver that should stand out, hence why Braun calls it EasyClean . I still remove the blades to make sure it’s cleaned very well. This model has a fixed shaving head which is not as flexible while shaving as the higher-priced flexible head models.
Here and there I managed to get a pretty effective shave, like under my ears and on the soft spots on my cheek. Fortunately I was allowed to test it for free and I did not buy the Braun Series 5. The Series 3 have a simple light that will alert the user when the battery is low. The Series 5 models have indicator lights that will let you know when you are coming close to needing a charge. There are 5 lighted areas for indicating how much longer you have for shaving time.
You have to go over repeatedly, or in my case, go over with my old Norelco I wanted to replace. If I shave again the next day, I am happy with this Braun, otherwise it is a disappointment. But what if you purchased a Series 5 model that does not come with a cleaning station. Or maybe you want to take your shaver on vacation and don’t want the worry of bringing it along. The amount of cleaning required is determined by the amount of time the shaver has been used, not by how dirty the shaving heads actually are. I will look at the using the cleaning station to charge your electrical shaver further down in the cleaning section.
Etched into the trimmer molding are the words “Made in Germany”. Germany is the manufacturing location of choice for all of Braun’s higher-end electric shavers. 1 full charge provides up to 3 weeks’ worth of shaving. 5 min quick charge is sufficient for 1 full shave. The charging station for the also cleans the shaver so it’s ready for maximum comfort every day.
Time to get my 12 year old Phillips shaver out of mothballs, Perfect shave. The only reason for updating to a Braun was that the Phillips shaver looked a bit worn. You might want to check out all other electric shaver reviews and buyer guides here. It’s not quite as easy as a shaver like the Skull Shaver Pit Bull. That is a shaver designed for head use, however, the Philips Norelco Shaver has its own pros over these shavers designed specifically for head shaving. 2 – 3 days – This was the ideal range and a lot easier, well……….two days was best.
