Weber settled the case and changed the product label to “Made in the USA, incorporating globally sourced component parts”. While Weber products for a long time, carried the moniker “Made in the USA”, there has been some controversy about the way they have handled their product manufacturing and assembly in the past. A discovery that many Weber grills used components and parts manufactured in Taiwan and China led to a class-action lawsuit in 2011 about the use of the “Made in the USA” label. If you are a grilling enthusiast and have been looking for the right new gas grill, you have most likely already heard of the Weber brand. When huge is simply not big enough, then the Weber Genesis II E-610 is the grill you need. This gigantic 6-burner grill is a steel monster that will probably cook all the food you need for those family gatherings where 3 generations all get together at once.
For those with limited space but a lot of mouths to feed, it’s worth noting that more deluxe versions of the grill offer a side burner built into the table on the right. These burners have a flush cover, so when they’re not in use they can still be used as a table, but they offer portable bbq an additional cooking surface without expanding the grill’s footprint. The other gas-grilling weak spot I hoped this Weber could overcome is obtaining a good, hard sear. I picked up a ribeye and let the grill preheat for 15 minutes, which left the heat deflectors glowing orange.
The Genesis II turned in mixed results on our beer can chicken test, designed to assess how well a grill operates at medium heat. I again used one of the grill’s probes to tell me when the internal temperature reached 165 degrees. I also set the left and right burners to the midway mark as indicated by on their dials.

GS4 consists of Infinity Ignition, tapered-quadrangle shaped burners, and a redesigned grease removal system. The Genesis II E-310’s deep grate saves space on your porch or deck and still allows you to cook a lot of food. Although the E-310 has three stainless steel burners, you can buy other Weber Genesis II models with up to six burners. While the numbers don’t point to any discernible difference, the burners on the updated model are more powerful overall.
With equal performance, 20 percent more grilling space, and brilliant design and construction, the Genesis II E-310 is our top choice for dedicated grillers. Personally I’m not sure if there was really a call for a 2-burner Genesis, but here it is and it is an excellent grill either way. It just happens to be surrounded by really good competition in the Spirit II models. Finally there is an portable bbq “entry-level” Genesis two burner grill. I’m not sure if Weber realizes that this model is sort of getting stiff competition from their new Spirit II range, but I guess it doesn’t matter much as it’s all in the family. Without going into too much generic background about the new series, let’s instead look specifically at what the new grills offer, and then dig down into some specific models.
