This smaller unit cycles the air within about 500 square feet twice hourly and within 250 square feet four times hourly. The auger will not run 100% of the time, it cycles on and off depending on the temperature setting. When selecting a temperature setting, the auger will feed pellets for several minutes. This will momentarily raise the temperature, but the temperature will decrease and stabilize after minutes.
The Clermont is Wi-fi compatible so you can monitor and control temperatures from the comfort and warmth of your home. If you have a large home or a house configuration that limits Bluetooth range, you will be very pleased with this new feature. This is where Cuisinart really stands out on the competition for comparative pellet smokers. There is a benefit to this approach over say a typical horizontal pellet grill in that you can watch the cook through the doors. Cuisinart has really taken a step forward in the pellet smoker industry with the Clermont. The first things cuisinart clermont cover that stand out about the Clermont, are its size and appearance, so for me, it was love at first sight. I mean, I can’t remember ever seeing a such a tall pellet smoker before, and the design of this high-end unit is stunning as well.
The brisket turned out smokier than most of the briskets we cooked, too. You can get many of these on other grills, but few have all of them at this kind of price. At $700USD the Cuisinart Clermont seems like a steal. Going ‘low and slow’ and high-temperature grilling are two very different things. Its basically a cross between a horizontal/vertical smoker with an upright cooking cabinet with two french doors.

This is where the Cuisinart Clermont actually has a one-up over the Pit Boss Lockhart which only currently features Bluetooth connectivity. However, the Pit Boss Lockhart does feature a PID temperature controller, where it doesn’t appear that’s the case on the Cuisinart Clermont.
