The 9800 actually comes with less and is Philips Norelco’s budget 9000 series electric shaver. All electric shavers have their flaws and with practice you will definitely learn to get the most out of your shaver. The shaver is perhaps the quietest out of Philips Norelco Shaver all the high end electric shavers we tested, even at the highest speed setting. Change shaver head – Lights up once a year to remind you to change the shaving heads. You cannot use Philips shavers while on charge and the 9300 and 9700 are no exception.
As a side note, I must also mention that it is among the quietest shavers I’ve ever used. It would have been nice to get a cleaning brush or a basic travel pouch. Overall, the build quality and ergonomics are really good for this price point and the only real negative is the absence of a travel lock. As a side note, on the back of the shaver there’s a small area that appears to have the same textured rubber insert, but it’s actually just plastic so it’s not as grippy.
Anyone without shaving experience can be okay using this shaver as it is super-easy to use and it is designed to offer a skin-friendly shave. As if that’s enough, the 9000 Prestige allows you to shave anywhere, however you like. You can either choose to have a wet shave with gel and foam in the shower or a quick yet comfortable dry shave in a hotel room somewhere when you travel. An electric razor needs break-in time—not for the razor, but for your face. If you’re switching from a manual to an electric, or even from one electric style to another, generally you’ll need to give your skin two weeks to adjust to the new tool.
