On the smart home front, there’s an Alexa skill, so you can ask your 360 Heurist to start or stop cleaning from your Echo speaker. Annoyingly, Dyson has still to add the Google Assistant to the mix. However, unlike the basic mapping of the 360 Eye, the Heurist really ups the game with personalized zones and room settings.
That’s because it appeared to have more actual suction than many other robot vacuums we’ve seen, and it also seemed to navigate a room less chaotically than much of the competition. Most robot vacuums come with a Lithium ion battery of around 2000 mAh that will last long enough to handle approximately 200 m2 of floor space . Connected technology and and customized cleaning comes to life with the Dyson Link app, available for both iOS and Android devices. From across the room, or across the world, the Link app allows the cleaning times to be scheduled and adjusted whenever connected to wifi. Switch between the three cleaning levels and create zones throughout the house which allows custom behaviours in each area. Afterwards the Dyson Link app shows cleaning reports and maps of the areas the 360 Heurist has cleaned.
By using tank tracks instead of standard wheels the Dyson 360 Heurist can easily climb over thresholds and transition between floor types or onto area rugs. Eight navigational sensors allows the Dyson 360 shark cordless Heurist to see a four-metre diameter around it at all time. This includes drop sensors which prevent the robot from falling down stairs and sensors which prevents it from bumping into walls or furniture.
The robot vacuum cleaner is easy to use and delivers good performance. Installation and Control I use the Dyson Link App to control the robot vacuum cleaner. I connected to the robot vacuum in no time and immediately set up a cleaning schedule. The robot uses sensors and lasers to create a virtual map of my living room, which I find in the app. This is especially noticeable in the efficiency of the virtual card. Because I set the cleaning schedule immediately after installation, I no longer had to worry about switching on the robot.
It also has that classic Dyson aesthetic going on, even though this is the brand’s first robot vacuum. Since I tend to like Dyson products from a pure design-appreciation standpoint, I like the 360 Eye’s looks, too. Specifically, it’s swathed in a glossy gray finish with bright blue accents. It even has a mini cyclone packed inside, a legacy fromits line of upright and stick vacs. The 360 Eye by Dyson is a very good robot vacuum, but competitors offer similar features and better performance for less.
The Roomba also has drop detection sensors that prevent it from falling off stairs or ledges. This is generally when dark carpet has stark contrasts between light and dark, or tile floors are black and white. If you happen to rearrange your furniture or add new obstacles, the Roomba 980 will probably bump into them once. There are no manual control modes so you cannot chose to clean a specific area of a room, mainly because the 360 Eye Is powerful enough to get the job irobot vacuum cleaner done in a single session. The 360 Eye picked up a lot of the pet hair, but the rest was stuck along the side of the test pen. The 360 Eye came in last place on the rice test, picking up just 2.18 ounces on the plush carpet, 1.85 ounces on the berber-style carpet, and 2.13 ounces on the hardwood floor.
