It´s very strange that Braun starts to do a downgrade to his produts. But according you words, I understand that these machines (serie 5 & 7) are only for USA. While definitely more expensive than the 5018s, the 5140s is a better shaver in every way. The current Series 5 generation is still one of the more compelling options in the mid-range segment.

Skin comfort is the aspect that people at Braun have seriously attended to and that is why this Braun 5090cc has the smoothest skin contact. It goes easiest on the skin while being keen about not missing even a single hair. There is no beard that is impossible for this machine to trim and shave not even the hardest and the trickiest beards.
While the closeness of the Series 5 isn’t class-leading, this shaver shines when it comes to comfort. And now let’s get to the most important part of the review, the actual shaving performance. Being suitable for dry only use, the Braun Series cc can be used while charging with the included cord, unlike the wet/dry 5190cc. Speaking of which, this is another minus of the Series 7 that was fully addressed with the Series 5. While the Series 7 doesn’t have a travel lock, you can activate it on the Series 5 by pressing and holding the ON/OFF switch for 3 seconds.
