Series 5 is on par with Series 7 in terms of shaving closeness. With almost the same cutting elements, shavers from both series can satisfy most men. They do not deliver the closest shave in the category of foil shavers but are still at the top of the class. In addition, you will experience a lot more vibration and noise shaving with Series 5, whereas the counterpart gives you a less trembling and quieter shave.
The robust third generation and some 2nd generation series 5 shavers are available on the market with and without automatic cleaning and charging station. The design of the Series 5 is so sleek that the braun Series 9, which is the high end of the Braun range, has the same design and is highly recommended. The handle is widest at the top, near the cassette, and then tapers down in the middle. The Braun Series 5 is a majority black colour, with small bits of red or blue detail, while the shaving head comes in either black or silver. The shaver has 3 flexible blades that are advertised as being able to effortlessly follow the curves and contours of your face. I used shaving foam with it and It left patches of hair intact pretty much all over.
When the cleaning indicator lights up in the shaver display, insert the shaver into the C&C, as described above. Using the special cord set , connect the station power socket to an electrical outlet. Next, switch off the shaver, press the release button to remove the Foil & Cutter cassette and let it dry. The lock symbol lights up in the display when the shaver has been locked to avoid unintended starting of the motor (e.g. for storing it in a suitcase).
