The Cuisinart comes with three trays–the air frying basket , a sheet pan, and a rack. These are all interchangeable in position based on what you’re cooking. You want whichever rack you are using to be on top, but make sure the air fry pan is always sitting atop the sheet pan so it can catch drippings, crumbs, etc. You can also use cuisinart clermont cover the sheet pan as you would a regular sheet pan in your full-size oven for baking, air frying, etc. The Cuisinart Digital AirFryer Toaster Oven isn’t compact by any means, but it is sleek enough to be left on the counter if you have the space. It looks like a countertop oven, and that works in its favor in the looks department.
We also like that the Cosori has a plastic guard that covers the basket’s release button , which prevents you from inadvertently pressing it while shaking your food. Without the guard, it’s easier to accidentally press the button, which would release the bucket and send it crashing onto the floor. It is the only appliance other than our espresso machine and drip coffee maker that has been awarded coveted counter space. The Cuisinart toasted evenly on the medium setting, but the toast came out a bit darker than we expected. While Cuisinart says the toaster oven has a 4- slice capacity, we were able to toast 6 slices at once and get fairly even results. Toasting times are considerably longer than in a pop-up toaster; it took almost 5 ½ minutes to brown on medium and almost 7 minutes on dark. I have had to use a lower temperature than suggested and I do keep an eye on what is being cooked. It has lessened with time, but I still get a whiff of it sometimes. (this was the #1 recommendation!) I LOVE the Breville brand (it’s what our old toaster oven was) but this one just had more functions than we needed and I didn’t want to spend that much. For the record, you can get similar “air-fried” results when cooking food in a full-size oven with convection.
