Blame it on DaVinci and BM and not on dji fly or others that these days give full support to ProRes. The older Smart Controller, the solution for the future which costs $749, will apparently not work with this drone. As usual with DJI, you’re supposed to dump your old gear and buy new everything.
This is why I’m perplexed that DJI is powering it with the Fly app. As stated earlier, this app was debuted two years ago with the Mavic Mini – a drone aimed at beginners. Even though the Air 2S could work for some professional use cases, it’s still priced in a range that makes it a justifiable purchase for consumers. The Mavic 3 Cine’s remote, the RC Pro , is similar to DJI’s SmartController.One new and noteworthy development comes in the form of a new gimbal protector. DJI has done away with the plastic gimbal clamp and created something that wraps around the drone and secures the battery, which now gets inserted in the back of the aircraft.
We see this as nipping at the heels of the Inspire 2 as much as it provides a necessary update for Mavic 2 videographers (though if you don’t need ProRes, it’s a lot to pay for bragging rights). What makes the standard Mavic 3 such a brilliant device is that, while still being bigger than some telephoto lenses, the entire thing can be stuffed into a kit bag and taken travelling. The recording itself is also of exceptional quality, with D-Log M and HDR video at up to 5.4K 30fps and a full choice for filmmakers , at up to 150mbps – again higher quality than many pricier models in DJI’s range.
IMHO no manufacturer should ever give airspace permissions, this has always been my stance and worry about ’s geofencing. From the footage shown in the video above, it is pretty clear to see the Ronin 4D performed very well despite the cold and bumpy environment, and it will be exciting to see what the Ivresse Films team are able to create with it moving forward. According to Frioux, he immediately noticed the difference in sharpness and speed using the LiDAR rangefinder focusing. While the Ronin 4D is not exactly designed for the elements found on a ski slope in the Alps, the goal of the test was to see just how it would perform at full speed while following and tracking a team of freestyle skiers. According to a story on the DJI blog, his team initially thought that the Ronin 4D would be unnecessary and maybe even overkill for his type of work, but once he got the system on the slopes it seems the results completely changed his mind. “China will, as always, firmly defend the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies,” he added.
The all new remote has a 10 km video transmission range and fresh ergonomic design. The Mavic 3’s 46mph top speed is just two more than the current Mavic 2 Pro which isn’t especially groundbreaking. However, its ascent speed is radically quicker – 18mph which means you can create sensational climbing footage without the need to speed it up in post production. I still remember the dji fly Phantom 2 Vision drone with its bulbous white camera and no gimbal.
