The owner was a really nice person and he was the original owner of the bike. As best as he could remember he purchased it in 1991 or 1992 from Toys R Us for $190 some dollars. A linear pull brake is an evolution of the cantilever pull brake. The problem with the braking system is that it’s not as efficient as a disc brake.
