As I mentioned previously, the time may be difficult to read at night using the analog hands, but the digital display solves this problem. A small light can be activated that perfectly illuminates the digital display and provides enough light to adequately read the time using the handset. However, my favorite complication of the g shock watch is the world timer. I don’t travel often but the ease with which you can change time zones with just a few button presses makes this feature great for frequent travelers. The CasiOak lists the cities in those time zones as you scroll through them, taking the guesswork out of the process. I will admit that watching the hands spin around the dial as you change to a new time zone is also immensely satisfying.
G-Shock watches are popular enough with the active/law enforcment/military/outdoorsy crowd to begin with, and then the hexagonal “CasiOak” analog-digital timepiece took the world by storm. Certain colors sold out, and watch modders customized it with metal to mimick the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. Now, G-Shock is listening to their adoring fans by creating a metal version clad in stainless steel. The functionality remains, but the look is decidedly premium with the metal case, bezel, and dial on top of a black resin strap. Other metallic GM-2100 models will include black/green, black/red, and gray/blue. Look for them to go on sale in August and get snatched up very quickly.
After resisting the urge to leap on a novelty that didn’t convince me out of the gate, I eventually caved and bought an artist-modified Casioak skeleton for myself. My model is a rather unusual unsanctioned limited edition of 50 pieces created by @lpedits. However, it gave me an insight into the wearing experience of a Casioak in resin and, I must say with my hand on my heart, I prefer it to the many G-Shock squares I own . I considered underplaying the importance of case material when it comes to a brand known for its iconic silhouettes but I quickly decided I was being ridiculous. The conversation of what makes any Casio feel truly great on the wrist cannot ignore something as integral to that experience as the case material. Therefore, if you find yourself trying to decide between a “classic” resin-cased “Casioak” GA-2100 and its recently birthed metal counterpart, the GM-2100, read on.
It was everything I thought it would be and more. The watch feels amazing and is the perfect size for me. I’m extremely happy I could get it in the “stealth” color option, because they’re hard to come by. This watch is very beautiful and so elegant in all details, very thin , casual lightweight, also it has unique dial, it’s really a piece of Art. I highly recommend it to everyone who pays attention to the design in details.
