I have some solar G-Shocks that are almost 10 years old (GW-M5600, GW-225) and a GW-9000 which is 10 years old and they are still working fine with the original rechargeable batteries. They usually stay charged to the maximum without having to leave it in the sun or under bright light, at least for the all-digital models. If you’re not going to wear it just leave it by a window and it should be okay. But I would say go with your first choice and then get your second choice later.
