G-Shock watches by Casio are tough enough for military personnel and reliable enough for FAA approval. Featuring watches for men and women, G-Shock watches are also available in digital and analog. These Casio watches are shock- resistant, waterproof and showcase a wide-range of intricate functions such as Bluetooth, compasses, barometers, depth meters, pedometers and even GPS location. These attributes make the brand a signature for law enforcement, first-responders and those serving in the armed forces. Alpha-gel encased mechanics allow this watch to withstand tremendous impact and its stainproof, resin band keeps the watch flexible for comfort. Taking three years to perfect the innerworkings of these watches, G-shock has reached its pinnacle of design, realizing their watches can successfully survive a drop from the stratosphere.
I won’t go into the specifics other than to say if you’ve used resin bands in the past & been less than pleased with them you won’t be any more pleased with this one. But if you’re satisfied with them, you’ll be happy with this one too. FYI, I had a new, spare, $8, generic, black velcro band that I’d planned to use on my old watch, so I tried it on this watch & it works great. It looks decent & you’d have to know that the watch originally came with a different band to pick up on it’s being a replacement.
Now if a watch has an official ISO certified water resistance rating, then none of the aforementioned problems should ever be an issue. This holds true for any depth up to the depth that the watch g shock protection is rated for. Then for many watches that are water resistant, you can damage the watch when pressing the buttons underwater. This is because button presses underwater can cause water to leak in.
Also, saltwater can be damaging to some watches that are water resistant. If a watch is ISO certified for water resistance of at least 100 meters, it can be classified as a dive watch. Watches with this classification will usually have the words “diver” somewhere on the watch. So if you want a true G-Shock diving watch, then that would be the one to get.
In real-life situations, however, there is no difference between a G-Shock with the plastic inner case and a G-Shock with the stainless steel DLC coated one. Although bigger than the GWM-500 above, the watch is a little smaller than most other G-shocks – we’re rating it as “medium”. The all-black coloring with the negative display gives the watch a tactical look.
