Sparkly is hard to achieve without aldehydes or citrus, but this pear absolutely sparkles. For me, as the drydown progresses, the pear stays as the standout note. Because it becomes soloed out, it does feel slightly more synthetic, but not to a fault. As for woody notes, I really don’t get any. Perhaps some sandalwood in the base, but not the woodiness I was expecting, which I like.
I’m not usually a fan of modern fragrances but the moment I smelled this I knew it was mine. Let me start by saying I absolutely love the bottle Polo Ralph Lauren t shirt – the flip cap to be specific. It reminds me of an old timey brass petrol lighter. This is an extremely confident, elegant scent with an edge.
This still has mass market appeal, but it doesn’t smell like generic fragrance counter perfume. Though I do like some of the older RL perfumes, I haven’t really been into any of the fruit cocktail perfumes they’ve released post-2000. This is a beautiful tuberose that, to me, smells like a throwback to their earlier style yet Polo Ralph Lauren t shirt still totally modern. The fresh rhubarb note is very nice too and a huge bonus is that unlike the majority of new releases, the sillage and longevity with this one is great! This fragrance starts off with grape flavored candies, which I assume is a combination of the pear and the black currant on the top of the rhubarb.
Ralph Lauren perfumes are normally so boring or generic but this is like crack in a bottle. I love both, and I think RL Woman will become a classic. I’m hoping for a wintery/intense/absolu version, maybe with the hazelnut note really amped up as I cannot smell it here.
Lately I have been staying away from floral perfumes and moving towards really saccharine and musky perfumes. This one is for sure more sweet than you would think. Ralph Lauren describes this as a magnetic “blend of florals and sandalwood.” Magnetic is a great description! This is the most unique perfume in my collection and I am really enjoying it. Don’t get me wrong, I love to smell fresh and clean. Woman by Ralph Lauren fits this bill perfectly.
