Ralph Lauren And The Great Return Of American Menswear In Summer 2021

The pine isn’t terribly realistic, but it smells nice. As time goes on, I can pick up powder, leather, and tobacco. Such an outstanding and iconic green classic.

I recently read about this perfume and was astonished that it was created in 1978. And that it is called an old man’s perfume. I’ve been wearing this since the time I was 24 and fit right in. I think it is extremely masculine scent.

All others should bow down before the great green Polo god. There are more than enough reviews here covering the way it smells, so I won’t go into that, except to say that this smells fantastic. Another old-school powerhouse I am very glad to have added to my growing collection. If it makes me smell “dated,” I am perfectly happy with smelling that way. It is one of my favorites, and what I think of when I heard the term cologne.

Somehow it smells substantial and dignified, but not in a lax way. The activity is there, but it is rooted. This is for a man who is clean shaven and dresses smart, but isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty — in a word, your archetypal 70’s New York detective.

Every colleague he’s worked with or student he has taught forever associates him with the scent that remains long after he has left the room. Despite the reformulations through the years and new Polo flankers he insists on his green bottle that to him represents the ultimate man’s man, the ideal gentleman in every sense of the word. I wore it uninterrupted throughout my twenties. It now evokes so many memories when I wear it now I just sink into nostalgia. Woody, green, but floral at the same time. It starts bright, leaving trails of grass and moss, before drying into leather and Patchouli, which for me is its dominant note.

I am not sure if it is my imagination but it smells much more pleasant that what it did in December. It could be that the contents had to settle or mature in the bottle as is the case with my Aventus and other fragrances. It is almost like the spicy notes are coming through better now as I could mostly only smell a wet green grass note before. So I do think it comes across as a lot more balanced and richer now. First thing that hit me was a blast of tobacco; not the fresh kind, but resinous, dried tobacco. Took me right back to my grandmother’s house, sitting next to her while she smoked.

Any alternate option for polo green ? I really love this fragrance but performance for me is disappointing, I currently have 2018 batch . I wore this infrequently ralph lauren t shirt in high school and only recently reacquired it. I loved it for its masculine juniper and pine as a child, and now I appreciate the subtle backbone of leather.

Heavy on the pine needles, and a almost burnt out, tar like campfire smell. Honestly it reminds me of a smoky single malt scotch with a medicinal polo dress shirts aura about it. Use it sparingly and the colder outside the better. Picked up a decant of this from Perfume.com, and have worn it 3-4 times.

I normally don´t like leather, but it´s not too much in this one. But it suits an older man best I think, so not quite for me yet. I have always perceived my grandpa as very classy.

Like other reviewers said, it really smells like money, not the newer bills made of plastic (I’m Canadian, I don’t know how us bills are nowadays) but the old ones made of paper, like a big stack of it. It’s really powerful, I tested 4 different fragrances on ralph lauren t shirt different areas today and I can only smell Polo , I wish I didn’t bought the 240ml bottle, I’ll have enough for at least 3 lifetimes. I think if you are over 30 this is great, in my case it definitely gives me a good throwback in my childhood when I spray it.
