I really don’t know about the reformulation. The bottle I have is recent and superb. Let me put it this way, if it is reformulated just think of it as a new perfume and it would stand head and shoulders above any new release or any of the new Tom Ford Fougeres. ralph lauren t shirt I will always have Polo in my collection, even if I decided to shrink it down to only 10 fragrances. Polo is one of the easiest scents in the world to overspray. I think we’ve all been in the room with a guy who wore too much of this on too warm of a day.
But it is definitely a very formal scent. I wouldn’t recommend for every day use. No brand captures all-American flair quite like Polo Ralph Lauren. The current version is absolutely beautiful and performs incredibly well. If you want to spend your life trying to chase shadows of a past that is never coming back, that’s fine. But don’t put people off of what’s here now. The memories of a nice deep oily green and dry woody scent are still strong.
But where Polo shines is in longevity and projection. It lasts 4-6 hours on my skin with 2-3 sprays, and 8-10 hours with 5-6 sprays. Projection is at least arms length throughout.It even has lasted 2 days on fabric.
I just never really have a good chance to wear it, and can’t think of any good situations that Polo would fit. A mystical blast of tobacco, peanut and turnip, “Polo for Men” is the ultimate “look inside my pants” fragrance. I moisten squares of toilet paper with it before wiping my bottom, because you never can be too cautious. It is a projection beast that has received celebrity endorsements from the likes of Don Knotts, Burt Ward and Meredith Baxter Birney. Who could have imagined that a lighthearted bet would morph into a men’s classic?
