We also tested at the Mountain Oak Campground, located an hour or so east of Los Angeles, where at night the temperatures stay much cooler than in the surrounding valleys. Here, we also faced an onslaught of no-see-ums (biting gnats). Our testing also included sitting through thunderstorms on the public land just south of the Hualapai reservation, near the Grand Canyon. Finally, Kit somewhat cheekily borrowed many of these tents and thrust them into the hands of guests at his own wedding. Several couples with various levels of camping experience slept in these tents at the wedding, giving us their impressions and helping us whittle the group down to the finalists.

However, if you are an avid camper, Ozark Trail tents may not be for you. Dependability in rough weather conditions and the durability of continued use are lacking in this tent. Ozark Trail manufactures a large variety of tents that will fit most campers’ needs.

The Ozark Trail Yurt gets high marks for its overall interior space with 169 square feet of floor room and ceilings over 7 feet tall at their peak. That’s plenty of room for two queen mattresses with room left over for some chairs, a cooler, and a camp table. Speaking of camp tables Ozark Trail actually includes a small table with this shelter, which mounts at the base of the main support pole to make the most of the tent’s interior space. The table includes four large hanging mesh pockets at its sides, which, along with the multiple pockets found along the walls of the Ozark Trail Yurt, make storage and organization another high point of the tent.

It features a large front awning for relaxing under the shade. In addition, it comfortably fits three queen airbeds or up to 12 campers in sleeping bags on the floor. Two internal room dividers allow you to create separate sleeping and living spaces.

A good tent allows you to fully enjoy the outdoors, without having to spend 2 hours trying to set up the tent, only to give up & end up sleeping in your car; it sucks. It has an included rainfly, and the 7 mesh windows can be zipped up to prevent rain from entering. It has a nice mesh roof, mesh walls in the first room, and small windows in the second room, making for great ventilation overall. With 7 mesh windows and a full mesh roof, the Ozark trail has great ventilation. Although some tents promise to hold up to 12 people, things can get a little cramped when you have all the sleeping bags fully rolled out. Measurements will matter more than how the tent is advertised, so use a measuring tape to map it out and decide on the size that will accommodate sleeping arrangements.

Thanks to the dual ceiling vents and ground vent, you’ll stay cool indoors no matter how muggy the weather. And, because of the no-see-um mesh covering everything, bugs will never have a chance to find their way inside your tent. The pin-and-ring frame attachment allows you to quickly pitch the tent, and the provided guy ropes add to the frame’s stability.

Thank you OZARK for making camping nights with small children just a little more difficult!!!! Good thing we are all troopers and we didn’t let your HORRIBLE product ruin our trip. Rain fly is too big — it needs one side cut differently to allow to get in and out of the tent. Only complaint was the zipper hangs on the front door flap, destroyed flap and zipper. There was a breeze so I put bricks around the edge, and the rain tarp didn’t cover the whole of the window like it was supposed to, but that was it was a little hard to set up so it was understandable. It worked well that night and I got some rain in but nothing serious.

The last thing you want to do is fumble around with an excessive number of poles and 20 pounds of tent material.Ozark Trail tents tend to be quite large, and large tents can be frustrating to put together. However, the manufacturers seemed to be aware of this, which is why they created most Ozark Trail tents with an instant design. Unroll the tent fabric on the ground, and pop everything into place in a matter of seconds. It doesn’t get much easier than that, and when you’re working with something as large as a 14 person tent, you’ll be very glad to have the convenience.
