A Compact Treasure Trove: The Weber Q 2200 Review 2022 Update

I also own a Weber Q2200, which I have not done a review on, but I did write a review on its older model, the Weber Q220, which you can find here. Got a new Weberq1200 doesn’t even light up at all. Other places don’t seem to keep this grill in stock.

It’s supposed to slide in underneath the grill body, but the pan that came with my grill was the tiniest bit too big and wouldn’t slide into the grooves. I tried everything I could think of—rotating it, bending it, putting it in from the other side—and it simply wouldn’t fit. Click here for more about what makes these grates so special. The biggest complaint from negative reviews was about how hot the grill was, and in some cases, how hot it wasn’t. I would guess that most of these people had regulator issues, and in many cases, could easily be solved by contacting Weber’s customer service center. The grill grates are cast iron and are more plate-like where they cover the burner.

While it doesn’t mean that ribs and similar foods are of the table, it can make it trickier to cook them. After all, grilling on a lower temperature doesn’t have nearly the same effect. The biggest issue here would be with the fact that there is only one burner. Now, given the size of the model this isn’t too surprising, but it does create a small issue when it comes to indirect cooking. I have to say, overall, I was impressed with what a good cooking performance the weber genesis 2 2200 offers up. Although it has a few limitations that you wouldn’t necessarily find with a whole grill, I did enjoy grilling on it.

It is also really easy to use and a lot of fun to work with as well. This portable grill is far from cheap but I would argue that you are investing in the Weber brand and this is certainly worth the extra cash. It isn’t just about the features and how well the grill works – just take a look at the quality of the components. And, when you compare it to other portable grills in its class, this is definitely the heftier option. The Weber Q electric grills are a little more expensive than their propane counterparts. The Weber Q2400is priced somewhere around $300 to $350.

It seems that the handle above the regulator is not quite in the right spot, and it can be challenging to attach a 16.4oz propane bottle to it. Weber suggests lifting the grill up by the right side handle to connect the cylinder at a bit of an angle. Modifying the handle by grinding or filing out a bit for extra clearance will void your warranty. After you have finished cooking for the day, let the grill cool off enough to handle the grates. Remove the grease tray and dispose of the liner and its contents appropriately.

I have to say that I didn’t expect the Q 2200 to function and perform as well as it did. From putting it together to actually using the grill, it has been a wonderful experience all around. And, while I will be using my whole grills for heavy duty grilling and smoking, this has earned its spot in my collection. In general, though, this gas grill is pretty easy to use.
