EGO ST1623T POWER+ POWERLOAD String Trimmer with Line IQ

We will update this page as more information becomes available. With a 16-inch cutting swath, the EGO 56V string trimmer mows through the grass and weeds with ease. And, there’s plenty of power from the 56-volt arc-lithium battery and brushless motor.

But with respect to your battery use I’m surprised it took so much. I can clean up my tree patch (roughly a 1/3 acre) with my echo in one battery charge and it’s a 58V 4AH kit. I’d like to see a comparision (or I’m willing to do one next year if asked) between some of the other systems. I have the Echo 58V system and the Gen 1 trimmer motor. EGO now makes one with attachment capabilities too.

It was kind of a pain to load the string on it. I agree on the mower part I mean there are now cordless riding mowers – but not really made for the runtime to meet 3 acre yards. There is some pro cordless mowers that compete with pro zero turns – but you’re talking about a 17K mower. I like Echo’s speed load – other companies use a version of it too – namely husquvarna and stihl. Similar to how you describe the other system – you run in the string 1/2 way and the head has a ratchet mechanism that you can crank back. Yes it takes all of 1 minute maybe 2 but very simple.

However, attachment systems use a driveshaft to run each attachment and create an electrical separation from the power source. Our best guess is that there’s an additional electrical connection for both sides. We’ll dive deeper once we get one in our hands. It is powerful and the string IQ feature is excellent. Very light weight and the battery lasts over an hour when in constant use, just perfect to take a break and quickly recharge the battery. This “string trimmer/weed eater” is powerful…be sure to buy the shoulder strap(a harness would be better!?but is unavailable?) before use.

I say temporary, because you have a 90-day return period , that you’re just going to return for a refund after getting your original tool back. Tool-free adjustments sometimes loosen up over time and can be a hassle to retighten, and so long-term the 4-screw shaft clamp will work just fine. I jammed the motor a couple of times, and it started right back up each time. I’d say that I abused the tool, and kept it running nearly continuously for a little over two hours. My three 5.0Ah batteries could have kept me going for even longer, but I ran out of line. During Testing, I didn’t make much use of the variable speed control.

One other big change EGO is making is that both the powerhead and string trimmer attachment with a carbon fiber shaft. This is the first time EGO has paired PowerLoad technology with its 56V battery-powered multi-head system. If you’re new to the feature, PowerLoad automatically winds up your trimmer line, saving you the irritation of doing it manually.

We measured 87 decibels when holding it at arm’s length, and when spinning, this string trimmer produces a pleasant, even sounding hum. This string trimmer is most in its element when tackling thick weeds and grasses. It’s one of the most powerful battery-powered trimmers in our tests and rips through the neglected, brushy corners of the yard. If the brush is thick enough that the trimmer doesn’t blow it flat, the Ego Power+ is wonderfully effective .

I always have one battery sitting on the charger and I am using the other. This trimmer looks great and ‘almost’ makes me want to start mowing and trimming my yard again. I also used to have the Stihl gas trimmer. A couple of years ago I finally gave up the fight and started having someone mow and edge every other week and I just mowed in between because I hated edging so much. I still get to maintain plant beds and I am waiting on the miracle yard tool that will help me keep bermuda and zoysia grass out of the beds. The included battery lasts about 20 minutes depending on how hard the trimmer is working and other factors.
