Build quality also isn’t especially impressive, and there are quite a few parts that need periodic cleaning. Samsung isn’t known for its vacuums in North America, but it released a slew of new cordless stick vacs in 2021. We tested the Jet 70 and found that it was just okay, really nothing special among a crowded field. In our tests it was a decent carpet cleaner, though not quite as strong as the similarly priced Tineco S11 or Dyson V8. It was also the worst snowplower we tested on bare floors—it pushed around more types of debris without sucking the stuff up than the other models we tested.
Spare parts for the Jet 70 and other Samsung Jet sticks are also more expensive than other brands’ spares—even Dyson’s. Samsung sells a few other variants of the Jet sticks, but the main differences are the suction levels and accessory kits. Of note, the Jet 90 will work with anoptional accessory (usually $200) that empties the vacuum on its own, though we have not tested it. The Shark Navigator DLX Upright Professional Vacuum offered powerful suction and performed great on low, medium, and high-pile carpets in The Lab. For that reason, it’s the right choice if you’re looking for a vacuum cleaner that’ll effectively clean your area rugs and carpeted floors.
This makes it so you vacuum more often, which makes up for slightly less power. Our Oreck Plus has been a great vacuum and is still operating after 17 years, but the suction isn’t what it used to be. The sharks fail in drop tests and crack easily losing vacuum, Dysons have never cracked but the V10 did have a battery die upon which customer support immediate sent me a full replacement. First among them, of course, is the upright mode that lets you clean both carpets and hardwood floors. After six weeks of steady testing, we found no tangles on this brush. Although most models completely clean uncarpeted surfaces after a few passes, not many grab everything on the first or second push. It only takes two hours to charge but battery life – two are included – varied in use; moving it between speeds and surfaces, it lasted 19 minutes, while on its lowest setting it lasted for over an hour. But the X’s advertised suction is significantly weaker than the S11’s . The Pure One X Tango variant does come with a second cleaning head that’s better suited for bare floors, thanks to a brush covered in microfiber. The brand’s first cordless stick vacuum can be used in three different configurations, as an irobot vacuum cleaner upright, stick and handheld vacuum. It aced every challenge we threw at it, attaining perfect scores in almost every one of our pick-up tests, although when using it as a stick vacuum, the dust pick-up worked better on short pile carpets than long. Its pick-up is excellent on both carpets and hard floors, with the rotating brush grabbing all pet hairs in one quick sweep, but we found it a bit bulky as a handheld.
If long battery life is your priority, look no further than this premium vac; it ran for 37 minutes on test across a variety of surfaces and speeds before running out of power. Scoring full marks for its cleaning performance, it lifted close to 100 per cent of the dirt we laid across carpet, laminate and floorboards. Shark is known for its versatility in vacuum design and this WandVac is a perfect example. Easy to assemble and slim in stature, the WandVac is ideal for quick spruce-ups without all the fuss larger vacuums can require. The top section houses the hand vacuum, dust cup and controls and is barely wider than the wand below.
