This model earned a perfect 5-star rating for its effectiveness and didn’t cause any debris to scatter in the process. If long battery life is your priority, look no further than this premium vac; it ran for 37 minutes on test across a variety of surfaces and speeds before running out of power. Scoring full marks for its cleaning performance, it lifted close to 100 per cent of the dirt we laid across carpet, laminate and floorboards. Shark bissell crosswave cordless is known for its versatility in vacuum design and this WandVac is a perfect example. Easy to assemble and slim in stature, the WandVac is ideal for quick spruce-ups without all the fuss larger vacuums can require. The top section houses the hand vacuum, dust cup and controls and is barely wider than the wand below.
Usually headlights are just a strip of white LEDs, and they work great. In typical Dyson fashion, it’s part flashy gimmick, part actual innovation. The laser really does do a better job of illuminating debris in brighter rooms and on lighter-colored floors than the LED bissell crosswave cordless headlights we’ve used. The Dyson V8 is better than nearly all other cordless vacuums at deep-cleaning rugs. Though the trigger-style power switch and built-in battery can be frustrating for some people, this vacuum has had excellent reviews from owners over many years.
Its 17-minute runtime on maximum power is remarkable but can’t be used in conjunction with the small electro brush on long pile carpets. Features vary between models; some have far more power than others, better attachments and, crucially, longer battery life. There’s no continuous power button, so you do have to keep your finger on the trigger throughout use, and it can be bulky to manoeuvre, especially when used as a handheld. You’ll also have to use it on eco mode to vacuum long pile carpet, as its high power can make it hard to manoeuvre.
