The Carbon

Casio refers to this new concept as its “Carbon Core Guard” case structure. Over the dial is a mineral crystal, and the case is water resistant to 200 meters. Aesthetically, the look of black carbon fiber on most of the case is gorgeous. That’s a tall order, but Casio’s G-SHOCK MUDMASTER GG-B100 watch has been built to meet the challenge of these extreme environments. The key to the G-SHOCK’s incredible performance is its Carbon Core Guard structure. This shock-resistant carbon core guard protects the watch’s vitals to assure proper function regardless of terrain or weather conditions.

The rest of the functions are similar to other top G-Shocks like alarms, world time, chronograph, dual time display, high intensity LED light and many more. The LCD screen at 6 o’clock is used for reading the sensor functions of this watch. A downside of the GWG-1000, however, is that the screen is quite small and can be easy to read. You may also use the button to move the hands out of the way quite frequently.

The rugged dust and mud-resistant watch, which is designed to survive in the toughest environments, has also been re-configured to come in 1.9mm slimmer than previous versions. Anyone considering the Mudmaster will be aware it’s a large watch and must be comfortable wearing one, but naturally, it will look massive on a smaller wrist. G-Shock watches are made to be worn loose (yes, if you’re doing the strap up tightly, you shouldn’t be) and the GG-B100 is quite top-heavy and often tried to slip over the top of my wrist. The strap is very stiff at first which doesn’t help, but should mold to your wrist over time.

Stainless steel has been used in the upper part and a shock absorbing resin is employed in the lower part to ameliorate on every impact or shock. Speaking of the barometer, it does more than just warn about the weather. The digital pressure sensor registers differences in air pressure and using the barometer position, you can see the g shock protection pressure trend and the air pressure presented on the screen. The altimeter function works by the simple concept of measuring the air pressure and this calculating the height you are at. This makes it possible to use the air pressure to calculate altitude. When it comes to the altimeter, you do this by entering a reference altitude.

In this article, we are looking closer at one of the watches in the Mudmaster collection, specifically the GWG-1000. The vast range of choices makes it possible for anyone to find a watch that suits their taste, style, and preference. If I had a minor gripe here it would be that I would have liked to have seen an anti-reflective coating placed on it so that its legible at some angles when the sun us reflecting directly off it. It has a curved/domed shape that harks back to the retro tool watches of the 1960s and adds strength to it. In this review the item was free and I get a commission for sales from the link in the blog but you will pay the same price as you would otherwise. During that time, Anderson leads his 20-person crew through classes to brush up on firefighting skills and drills to build their fitness and familiarity with equipment.

I sincerely prefer the mineral glass over the sapphire crystal because of the way it behaves over time but that’s more of a personal opinion. The stainless steel resin case is of incredibly good quality and trust me it can be reliable for lots of years from the moment you buy it. The band material g shock protection is a good-feeling resin that Casio pretty much used in all G-Shock with some exception, so nothing new here. As the previous model, the G-Steel also features a „hands out of the way” function which will put the hands in a position that will let you see all of the background indicators.

No, it’ll never match the Apple Watch for fitness tracking prowess, but that’s not the point. It’s sensible, helpful additional functionality on a tough-as-nails G-Shock, that let’s remember, does not need charging. There are alarms and timers, all of which can be set using the app, a world time feature, a phone finder, and there are sensors for barometric and temperature readings. For all the toughness of the Mudmaster GG A5, it’s not without a weakness. Contrary to Casio’s website and press information about the watch, the LED backlight isn’t very good. In fact, it’s nothing like Timex’s Indiglo, and very weakly lights the dial.

The G-Shock collection from Casio doesn’t need much of an introduction. It’s tough, durable, and made to handle virtually any harsh conditions you may subject it to. Finally I’m aware that the Bluetooth connectivity is fantastic but it comes at a significant drain to power.
