G-Shock GW-9400 is Casio’s “survival watch”, built for performance in extreme conditions. It’s also probably the best tactical watch ever made and the most popular model in Casio’s premium Master of G series. The DW9052V-1 is a slightly more g shock protection expensive version of the DW9052. It has more of a tactical style with a neutral color scheme and a nylon wrist band for improved fitting and comfort. This is a good option for those who prefer cloth bands or want a more subtle look.
The Frogman is solar powered, which makes it a virtually maintenance-free watch. I’ll be taking the GWA1100-1A Aviation model as a reference since it’s one of the highest rated g shock protection in the line. It meets the requirements for gravitational forces and anti-magnetism, but it also comes with a host of other features, both specialized and regular ones.
Because of extra protection, the buttons require more force to push than on other G-Shocks, which is one of the downsides of the mud-resistant protection. It comes in a DLC-covered stainless steel inner case and is as rust-resistant as it gets. The shape of the case is asymmetrical and gives the Frogman its unique look. The design is polarizing, with people either loving the watch or hating it – there seems to be no middle ground. I have another black out watch (DW-5600BB) and it gets compliments all the time.
It’s slightly busier than the GA-400, and for this reason, Casio is pushing this as “Street Fashion”-oriented. What we see is more of an automotive vibe coming in with the perforated hands on many models that suggest both old-school steering wheels and perforated driving gloves. But, yes, they’ll also color-coordinate with your most high-tech sneakers for mad street style. These watches are pushing 80s style into modern proportions like a trunk-pumpin’ remix of DeBarge. Yes, they’re incredibly capable and tough watches, but that’s not quite the point of these bad boys…well, unless you’re going to do a headspin on a piece of cardboard in it.
They’re exactly the same as the “real” G-Shock in features and durability, but smaller in size. G-Shock “King of G” GX-56BB is the biggest G-Shock watch ever made. But many of the Master of G series premium watches come close to it in size.
