The stainless steel cover with sturdy cast metal handle self-adjusts to the thickness of the food being cooked. When open, the unit extend to about 23.5″L. It provides a generous 240 square inches of cooking surface, enough for 12 pancakes on full griddle mode, or 6 burgers in contact grill position. When I was offered the chance to review the new Cuisinart Griddler Elite, I was expecting a newer version of what I currently had, but the Griddler Elite is so much more. It has a larger grilling surface and dual zone temperature control, so you can cook two different types of foods at two different temperatures. The heating elements in the Elite are inside the plates for more efficient heating, and the temperature of the grill plates can be controlled independently.

There’s plenty of space to collect liquids, and it’s easy to remove and clean. Since the drip tray is hidden, it gives the Griddler a smaller footprint and a neater appearance, but that also means it’s easy to forget about when it’s time to clean up. We had to remind ourselves to double-check the drip tray before storing the appliance. We liked the idea that we could open the Griddler flat to have two different cooking surfaces, and we could choose grill or griddle plates for each half.
The two buttons at the right side of the display is for adjusting the timer.
