It’s a silly term for a welcome and cool feature. To load string into the trimmer, all you need to do is cut the length of string you need (for me, it’s a little over two outstretched arm’s length—not very precise). Then just feed one end into and through the trimmer head. Pull the string through until you have equal lengths coming out of both sides of the trim head. Lightly hold the string creating a tiny bit of tension.
Yes I admit if you had more you might want to invest in another battery and they aren’t cheap. I think battery powered stuff is great for people that don’t know how or want to properly maintain gas powered equipment. As of now, I’m pretty greenworks pro sold on this EGO cordless string trimmer. It handled everything I threw at it yesterday, and if it can handle itself the same way as I work to clear the rest of the overgrown area, I don’t see any way things could be better.

I still get to maintain plant beds and I am waiting on the miracle yard tool that will help me keep bermuda and zoysia grass out of the beds. As the string becomes too short, just tap the head on a hard surface Ego Powerload String and the line will feed out automatically. I was able to trim around chain link fences, edge sidewalks and cut through the toughest grass and even thin branches that crop up in my yard around trees.

Worx sells them, and there appear to be a number of other brands selling compatible spools (we haven’t tested these and can’t vouch for them). Compared with the Ego, the Ryobi is loud—a squeal-like, whiny loud. We recommend using ear protection no matter which string trimmer you use. But even with padded ears, it’s easy to pick up on the Ryobi’s whine. If the Ego ST1511T is not available, our next choice is the Ego ST1521S Power+ String Trimmer with Powerload. It’s Ego’s previous version of the tool, and it is nearly identical to the ST1511T, other than that the shaft is not telescoping and the trigger design is slightly different.
