Compare Dji Phantom Models

This has the advantage of a fast, secure connection, and doesn’t require a Wi-Fi connection to be made out in the field. The other big change is in the design of the propellers – they’re now of the quick-release dji drones style, similar to those on the Inspire range of quadcopters. Preparing the Phantom for its first flight requires the battery and propellers to be fitted, but this takes less than a minute.

Waypoint navigation gives the Phantom 4 Pro more uses outside of aerial filming. The Phantom 4 Pro can be mounted with multispectral camera sensors, which have multiple uses including precision agriculture and golf course maintenance. When you look at all the innovative technology built into the Phantom 4 Pro, it is well ahead of the competition including the very latest of drones to be released.

Active Track – Using a mobile device, you can draw a square around an object, and the drone will track it if it starts moving. The drone does this without any additional transmitters or hardware, just camera recognition. The Phantom 4 drone’s camera has the capability to shoot 4k videos and 12 megapixel photos.

The aircraft was soon in competition with the XF8U-3 Crusader III. Due to cockpit workload, the Navy wanted a two-seat aircraft and on 17 December 1958 the F4H was declared the winner. Delays with the J79-GE-8 engines meant that the first production aircraft were fitted with J79-GE-2 and −2A engines, each having 16,100 lbf (71.8 kN) of afterburning thrust. In 1959, the Phantom began carrier suitability trials with the first complete launch-recovery cycle performed on 15 February 1960 from Independence. Wind tunnel testing had revealed lateral instability, requiring the addition of 5° dihedral to the wings. To avoid redesigning the titanium central section of the aircraft, McDonnell engineers angled up only the outer portions of the wings by 12°, which averaged to the required 5° over the entire wingspan. The wings also received the distinctive “dogtooth” for improved control at high angles of attack.

The F-4, like other interceptors of its time, was initially designed without an internal cannon. Beginning in 1959, it set 15 world records for in-flight performance, including an absolute speed record and an absolute altitude record. Back to basics, the Phantom 4 Pro is equipped with obstacle avoidance sensors on four sides and on the bottom. Thanks to this, it is not as pleasant to fly the machine close to the ground, or close to yourself, the remote beeps at you, a lot. 10.How many minutes of flight time can Phantom 4 achieve with the new Intelligent Flight Battery?

For aerial cinematography, the Phantom 4 flight modes allow you the capture film from various different flying angles. The Phantom 4 Pro autonomous flight modes, along with new stabilization system and professional 4k camera make this drone an exceptional investment. The fact that you do not have to dig into the menu system but can quickly flick the switch to activate the ATTI mode makes the drone that much safer an aircraft to fly. Very few drones that are on the market today offer you this functionality. A further 32 RF-4Es were transferred to Turkey after being retired by the Luftwaffe between 1992 and 1994.

As for the phantom 4’s still image files themselves, I have to say I was a little disappointed. Whilst the 4k video footage is nothing short of mind blowing, the RAW image files from the Phantom 4 aren’t as impressive. The Phantom 4 features a 1/2.3″ CMOS sensor, allowing it to capture 4k video at 30fps (1080p at 120fps for smooth slow-mo), and 12 mega pixel stills. In daylight flying, as you won’t need to be fiddling around with the ISO, all you need to adjust is the shutter speed to affect your exposure. It took a few flights for me to realise that whilst the battery life was limiting, you really need to slow your actions down whilst flying the Phantom 4. The battery charger can charge both the controller and the drone’s battery at the same time, which is a convenient feature.

Refocusing is also needed when switching from close shots to long shots during recording. The real-time geotagging, plus corrections from a base station on the ground, means unprecedented reliable accuracy for your drone surveys. Our goal is to provide you and your drone with expert service while getting you back in the air as fast as possible. Excluding cameras/gimbals, most repairs can be completed with less than $400 in parts.

Capture the best image data with a 1-inch, 20-megapixel CMOS sensor. Mechanical shutter makes mapping missions or regular data capture seamless as the Phantom 4 RTK can move while taking pictures without the risk of rolling shutter blur. Due to the high resolution, the Phantom 4 RTK can achieve a ground sample distance of 2.74cm at 100 meters of flight altitude.
