Do not use this product for indoor heating, as toxic fumes will accumulate. Do not attempt to move this appliance while it is in use. Do not operate this product in rain or wet conditions. Do not allow this product to come in contact with water. Set this product up more than 10’ from any large body of water .

The sear trap also needs to be cleaned each time because when the accumulated grease cools down, it makes it hard to slide it out during subsequent usage. The question is; does it really hold its temperature in the cold? I tested the Clermont with some massive beef shanks on a cold and windy day (-20°C / -4°F).

Just pull this open, and the ashes will fall into a collection drawer. The inside of the grill includes a 16″ x 30″ cooking grate and two oven-style racks that can be adjusted to five different levels in 2.5″ increments . This is really nice when you need more room for cooking larger meats like briskets or turkeys.

After a period of storage, inspect the grill for abrasion, wear, cuts, or damage to the temperature controller and power cord. Always open the grill hood carefully – heat and steam trapped inside the hood can burn. See Proper Care and Maintenance section for cleaning. Do not use inside a building, garage or any other enclosed area. Unplug the grill from the power source and allow the fi re to burn out on its own.

Set temperature to 275°F, close lid, and preheat pellet grill 10 to 15 minutes. It’s important to monitor the pellet level and mix the pellets by hand to ensure they flow into the auger. A pellet grill/smoker is only as good as the BBQ pellets you put into it. The type/quality of the BBQ wood pellets you use will impact temperature performance and smoke flavour.

Then, we cycled the grill on and off dozens of times to test ignition times and see if there were any issues with the pellet auger system. If the pellet grill produced enough smoke to create a smoke ring, we knew the brisket would be delicious before taking the first cuisinart soup maker bite. However, they are now many, many more brands to look into. Some may be what are commonly referred to as ‘Traeger clones’, but many others are offering their own unique designs and features. Hence, with an insulated blanket, the meat will be cooked more evenly.

However, the Pit Boss Lockhart provides a total cooking area of 2,136 square inches, hence quite a bit more than the Clermont. Well, Cuisinart state that a cooking area of 1,400 square inches is provided. However, with cooking areas on pellet grills/smokers, you always have to take the figures in context. However, in the case of the Cuisinart Clermont 1-2 lbs per hour is more realistic. So let’s presume the worst-case scenario and say it will consume 2lbs per hour when smoking. Cuisinart has recently released a new pellet grill/smoker into their range, the Clermont.

I hope the ongoing use of this grill will continue to be as satisfying. While some pellet grills can be found under $500, most range between $1,000 and $2,000 depending on the size and features. They have more moving parts than other types of grills, and controlling the temperature is a bit more complicated than a grill that uses dials or vents.

The idea behind the Clermont was to create a multifaceted pellet grill, covering all the needs of backyard cooking, while appealing to the hardcore barbecue enthusiast. Do not place power cord where it may come in contact with hot surfaces, or pose a tripping hazard. Do not use accessories or attachments not recommended by the manufacturer, as they may not be compatible with this appliance, and may cause damage or injury. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged power cord or plug, or after the appliance has malfunctioned or been damaged in any manner. To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or heating element in water or any other liquids. When grease or creosote has accumulated, it should be removed to reduce risk of fi re. Keep a fi re extinguisher on hand acceptable for use with electric products.
