Braun Series 5 Men’s Shavers

You’ll look forward to the shave rather than feeling dreadful about it with this Braun model. Series 7 performs better with long hair that lies flat or grows in various directions. The results are pretty good when it deals with two or three days of hair growth.

There are two outer foils that cut the hair at skin level, while the middle trimmer captures and pre-cuts long, flat-lying hairs. That is correct, the old Series 5 like the 5140s you mentioned is better than the Series 6. That said, the price of the old Series 5 has spiked for the past year or so. An alternative would be to a solo Series 8, it really doesn’t matter which one as the performance will be the same. As for my daily shaver, I tend to switch them up quite a lot (also because I’m testing new shavers).

As ergonomic as it might appear, the trimmer does not protrude from the shaver’s head and let you check how the trimming is going on. Besides, each cutting element in both shavers can swivel horizontally and vertically on its own. One thing to tell the difference between the two models is the presence of a skin guard in Series 7. The SmartClick precision trimmer is very easy to attach and detach to shave and trim with the device.

I had a replacement under warranty and the same happened again. Out of the three models, I personally wouldn’t consider the Series 3 CoolTech. The Series 5 and Series 7 are superior in pretty much every aspect. The CoolTech is a Series 3 after all and while the cooling technology does sound intriguing, its effectiveness is debatable. I have seen a few of your reviews and they have all given me very detailed information with comparison, thank you so much!! As a female , I would like to seek your advice on choosing a suitable, good-value Braun shaver for my partner.

Snap the cassette back in place, add a bit of water to the foils and then pour some liquid soap on the foils. The pressure from the stream of water pushes those flaps inward and enters the head of the shaver, flushing away the hair clippings. However, most users won’t have that possibility and they’ll have to clean the shaver manually. But in my case, it doesn’t make much sense as I tend to shave Remington Shaver often — every three days at most — so there’s no need to pre-trim my beard. As long as you stick to slower, controlled, shorter strokes and don’t press hard, it should be perfectly suitable even for someone with sensitive skin. The frames surrounding the three cutting elements are now made of plastic and they don’t move quite as easily and smoothly as in the case of the older Series 5 cassette.

The Clean&Charge Station has been developed for cleaning, charging, lubricating, disinfecting, drying and storing your Braun shaver. If you regularly clean the shaver under water, then once a week apply a drop of light machine Remington Shaver oil on top of the Foil & Cutter cassette. Switch on the shaver and rinse the shaver head under hot running water until all residues have been removed. Rinse off all foam and let the shaver run for a few more seconds.

My main gripe with this model is related to the shaving head. The power button is also used to activate the travel lock function; you do that by pressing and holding the button for 3 seconds. It also means the shavers will only operate cordless, so you can’t use them while charging. Also, since all the models in this new release start with 50, I will be referring to it as the Series 5 50 just to differentiate the new shavers from the old Series 5. Old S5 5140s costs more than new S6 6020s but from your reviews I’ve got a feeling the old one is better.

Its ergonomic design makes the use even simple, letting you shave effortlessly in a simple, one-way movement. Since you’re switching from a manual razor, you will likely need at least a couple of weeks to start getting good results. The first few shaves probably won’t go as smooth as you’d like, but just keep at it. The 5018s is a decent, but quite basic electric shaver and it’s a pretty good choice for a first electric shaver. As long as you don’t have particularly difficult facial hair and you don’t need the closest shave, it should be good enough.

All the new Series 5 shavers are fitted with a rechargeable Li-ion battery that provides up to 50 minutes of use. The Series 5 from Braun is Remington Shaver one of the company’s most compelling lines of electric shavers for men. Also, I find the Arc 5 a bit too aggressive for shaving the head.
