Schwinn Ic4 Review

Not only is it important for an indoor bike to accommodate multiple users of various heights and weights but the design itself should be comfortable. You would never ride an outdoor bicycle that doesn’t fit, and the same should apply to this indoor bicycle. After testing out many indoor cycling bikes, the Schwinn Fitness AC Performance Plus Indoor Cycling Bike is by far one of the versatile bikes for multiple users of various weights and heights. Although a heart rate monitor is included with the Schwinn IC4, I opt to use my Apple Watch to track my heart rate and calories during workouts on the bike, as well as log my workout in Apple’s Activity app.

During checkout, you can also purchase in-home assembly for $129, as well as an equipment mat to protect your floor for $99. Through a series of acquisitions, the company now belongs to Nautilus, Inc. Upon order confirmation, the delivery team will huffy beach cruiser deliver your equipment, FedEx or UPS. The IC4 has loads of handlebar and seat adjustment, both vertically and horizontally, to dial in the fit. Of course, it would be better if the bike came with a display and if the JRNY app was a bit meatier. If you prefer the cult-like vibe of Peloton ecosystem, you will be disappointed with the Schwinn IC800. Even more peculiar was the fact that the bike and the app showed different calorie burned stats as usually, the app caught up with the sensor a little bit after I started the workout.

The IC Classic combines the proven, traditional drive train of the IC Pro 20 with updated features of the rock solid Studio 3 cycle. Today, more than 100,000 IC Pro bikes are found in studios and clubs around the globe, bringing cycling to more riders than any other bike ever made. Now its time to add this proven cycle studio workhorse to your workout room. The sturdy steel mongoose bicycles frame, heavy perimeter weighted flywheel, traditional chain drive, and direct pressure brake give this bike the strength to keep it moving ride after ride. While we love the versatility that this connected bike provides, it doesn’t seamlessly integrate with either Peloton or Zwift. Yes, it does connect to either app easily and it works, it’s just far from perfect.

Zwift is a virtual interactive training app with thousands of structured training programs, races and events, and a huge variety of maps and routes to follow. When connected, your device shows the virtual course you’re riding, as well as metrics like speed, time, cadence, watts, and a leaderboard. Explore the World allows you to virtually ride in dozens of destinations and automatically adjusts to the video to the speed of your workout. The IC4 is built around a beefy steel frame that is impressively stable, even under the hardest of out of the saddle pedaling efforts. The frame supports a belt-driven 40 lb weighted flywheel which has 100 levels of magnetic resistance.

As a bonus, Hydrow is throwing in a complementary Polar OH1 Optical Heart Rate Monitor for keeping track of your vitals. Exercise bike alternativesYou can still cycle without a bike — in a sense — with these top-rated workout essentials. Here are other indoor exercise bike alternatives worth considering adding to your home gym in 2021. Schwinn is well known for its line of home exercise bikes, all of which are fairly priced and offer an effective solution for getting your sweat on from home. What’s more, while some are more affordable or geared toward beginners, other models come equipped with advanced features, including LCD screens, charging ports, dumbbells, and multiple user profiles.

It might lack the huge, 24-inch display of the Peloton Bike+, but it has its own merits and is also much, much cheaper than a new Peloton bike. The magnetic brake chain drive system, the flywheel, and the belt drive all work together for a smooth and realistic ride. Whether you’re an avid bicyclist who likes to stay in shape year-round or is just looking for a new piece of equipment to add to your home gym, a spin bike can be a great addition. If you don’t already have a tablet and cycling shoes, you may have to factor those costs in as well. Find your perfect riding position with a four-way adjustable seat and two different handlebar heights.

First, we noticed that the speed and distance readings on the bike’s own display seemed too high, in fact, they were way off. We like to think we are fast, but we also know that we average mph on an actual road ride, not even close to the 27 mph the IC4 recorded. If you base your indoor training rides on speed, distance, or calories burned, this bike will not be giving you accurate readings. Likewise, with Zwift, it has an exceptionally high power output reading that makes you seem superhuman. This problem is quite common according to forums we found online and is the result of the power reading being an estimation based on cadence and resistance as opposed to an actual power meter reading. There is a process to recalibrate the resistance on the IC4 which may help to normalize the power output reading on Zwift, although it seems unlikely that it would make it completely accurate.
