Dji’s Phantom 4 Comes With Obstacle Avoidance And ‘speed’ Mode

At maximum, the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V. 2.0 takes 20-megapixel photos. We’ve seen some really great results from the Phantom 4 Pro, but it’s also not a magic wand. A new AR route function shows the quadcopters real-time flight direction for reference as its route is adjusted. The Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 can adjust its sensing range and flight speed to fly safely through narrows gaps. First you need to set up the C1 or C2 buttons to activate Narrow Sensing. When flying in a narrow space, you can activate Narrow Sensing, and drone will adjust its sensing range and flight speed to fly safely. In still photo mode, I was able to shoot at 1/80th and still get an adequately sharp image. There are several shooting modes to choose from on the Phantom 4, including most of those found on your dSLR – burst mode, time lapse, HDR and exposure bracketing. Controls are Auto or Manual, and you can control everything down to applying a custom white balance.

The anti-collision system should not be relied upon too heavily. The aircraft includes the Visual Positioning System module seen on the Professional/Advanced models. It includes features, as the other models do, such as Point of Interest, Follow Me, GPS Waypoints, Course Lock and Home Lock. The remote for Professional and Advanced models also has 2 antennas. DJI’s is in fact a pretty amazing piece of technology and — for the moment — has supplanted the Phantom 3 Professional as the consumer camera drone to get if you’ve got the money. That said, the out-of-the-box flight experience isn’t all that different from the Phantom 3 — any of them.

It’s the first to market with serious autonomous features, and the implementation works really well. The addition of obstacle avoidance, tap-to-fly, and subject tracking make this the drone I would recommend to total beginners, but one which can also help dji drones professionals capture more interesting and risky shots.
