My 10-year-old (4’10, 80-pound) had outgrown and worn out her three-year-old 20-inch bike. I couldn’t decide between a 24″ and a 26″ bike, so I went with the 24″. I thought I’d have time to assemble the bike today after reading one review that said it took 30 minutes. As previously mentioned, the bike is delivered partially assembled.
I had forgot how much nicer these older inexpensive thumb shifters are compared to the inexpensive twist shifters of today. After a good cleaning I might take a couple of pics since it looks like it will cleanup very nice. But service work to all the bearings and such needs to come first. It’s constructed from durable steel and comes with a reliable suspension fork that allows you to smoothly beat obstacles on the way, no matter the terrain.
I never did much research on it after owning it, but it was obvious a weak attempt at the upper-end racing bike market. It worked though, I raced it, and it was because of that bike that schwinn bicycles I’m riding today. If you want a complete set of mountain biking equipment, like helmets, pedals, and lights, then you can purchase all of this at the same time when you buy a Huffy bike.
Brakes are one of the most critical elements of a bike. Note that Huffy Hardtail Mountain Bikes have linear Pull Brakes in both the wheels which is not ideal for rough mountain trails. Before buying a bike, you should always check whether the brake is effective or not. This small act of carefulness can save you from dangerous accidents.
If you already know your budget, then you can start looking according to your preferences. Make sure that the bike you are buying has the maximum features available within that budget. The knobby tires are around 24″ x 1.95″, which makes the ride safe and enjoyable. For a smooth downhill and uphill riding, Huffy has combined Shimano TZ-31 and micro shift twist shifter. The Huffy hardtail mountain bike is a great deal for the money, especially if you’re buying it for your kid. The adjustable seats are excellent for different people. The seats are pretty comfortable, but the brakes are a little fragile as they tend to bend. The bike comes partially assembled, which means you’ll need to read the instruction manual properly to ride it on the roads. Lol I’ve been seeing a l good number of late 80s- early 90s huffy mountain bikes popping up lately that look like they were never ridden.
