But skipping basics like black-and-white capture is frustrating, and we really would have loved the same HDR imaging offered by the Mavic Air included here. Handsets like the iPhone 11 Pro have made us rethink what smartphone-level image quality is. I don’t miss the gimmicky 360-degree dji drones feature DJI put in the Mavic Air, but cutting HDR from the feature set is near criminal. The Mavic Mini shoots video at up to 2.7K resolution at 30 frames per second and 1080 at 60fps and 12 megapixel photos. The camera’s on a three-axis motorized gimbal so you’ll still get the same smooth video and stable pictures as you would with DJI’s other drones. It also has 30 minutes of battery life on a full charge.
Here we can choose between shooting in 2.7K or 1080p resolution, as well as manually adjusting the frame rate between a range of FPS. Whilst using the 2.7K resolution, we recommend setting a frame rate of 30 FPS for the clearest images. The RTH altitude is very important to ensure your aircraft will fly at a safe and stable altitude when it returns to its home point.
