The rose, the hobbyhorse of Lancôme puts itself like a superhero coat around the wearer and gives her a confident femininity. Feel the clean and soft skin scent of Idôle, both powerful and comfortable. A fragrance dreamed up by women to reveal the aura of every Estee Lauder makeup woman. At the central point of Idole, two materials merge; rose and jasmine. I sense it as a perfect fragrance to be worn all year round, throughout the day or evening. I love the elegance and chic of Idole L’Intense highlighted through the chypre structure.
Idole on the contrary is a very conformist fragrance, which tells you how to be a pretty woman. It perfectly suits any occasion, it takes a very limited space in the bag or purse, it’s convenient. Good enough to be a crowdpleaser, but not bold enough to be called an idol. I don’t understand the obsession with constantly wearing loud, sharp and intoxicating perfumes.
I spent nearly $80 on La Vie Est Belle, which I think is around the same size. But if you don’t even want to buy the 0.85 fl oz size, I often buy travel-size perfumes to see how I like them over time. If I like them, I simply buy the bigger bottle. That’s what I did with La Vie Est Belle. Three female perfumers from three different continents came together to create this unprecedented rose, jasmine and chypre fragrance. Together, they made Idole a universal perfume.
At least it’s not just another sweet scent. Overall this is an okay fragrance to me as it is not anything special. In addition, the bottle design is horrible. It is super long and skinny and meant to lay flat, just overall not very practical or pleasing to the eye in my opinion. I feel like Lancome could have spent more money in perfecting to make a unique scent rather than on their advertising campaign.
As others have noted this scent is not complex, or unique. If your one to smell a lot scents, as many of us here are, it will remind you of other rose/pear blends. But just because it isn’t ground breaking doesn’t mean it isn’t pretty and sophisticated. I look forward to trying this scent again in warmer weather, as other reviewers have suggested that its performance is better on hot days. Beautiful scent that lasts on your clothes and in your hair, but the only part of my skin that retains this scent is the inside of my elbows. The musk and vanilla are very light.
